Im chucking my laptop after opening that picture. I feel like my cooling fan just got sporulated by my GPU rendering that.

Lol no in all seriousness my friend that is NOT mushroom mycelium. Throw that shit away and break out the bleach (Im exaggerating for comedic effect but no seriously toss that shit)

no idea what that is but it looks sus as fuck. compost & perlite shouldn’t be used for spawning, just stick to coco coir if you want something simple

I think he may of used tin foil as a liner...

could this be FAE issue?

I didn't have holes in the bottom part of the tub to rid the co2 buildup. could this be mycelium growing up to reach for air?
I only had holes in the top part of the tub.

my liquid culture looks very healthy clear liquid with nebula cloud mycelium (atleast i hope) i'm using pc for 90 min to rid contaminants before inocculation of grains. and if this is no mycelium i'm guessing the whole liquid culture isn't mycelium.

i did use tin foil as a liner.. is that a problem?

Did you pasteurize your compost?
And no, that's not from FAE, many of us run unmodded tubs without holes.

Not caused by FAE.
Not mycelium so it isn't having a C02 issue.
Did you test your LC on agar before using it? It would have turned pink on the plate if you did.
Tin foil will be consumed by healthy mycelium over the life of your tub. I don't believe that is mycelium of P Cubes. Kizzle might know what that is, i am guessing some kind of mold. Toss the whole tub and LC and start over.

listen to all of the above advice for sure. LC is notoriously hard for newer cultivators to get right. it’s super hard to spot contams, even the most perfect looking LC can be full of bacteria & other weird shit. you really gotta make sure your shit is clean before you make an LC. josex has a really good method for it in this thread https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24740168

hey you guys are awesome for answering,

it sux i have to start over but i'm determined, i really thought i had clean LC this time because i scratched some spores that i ordered inside the PC LC medium and did this in an airtight tub i made with gloves and shit. sprayed lots of alcohol etc. and the LC was like this amazing nebula in clear liquid. i made my LC medium with 4% maple syrup in distilled water. i had read somewhere this was the easiest method.. i'll try the spores on agar again.

questions: how do you get a spore print sanitized from the other bad stuff?
i can only work/start with spores cause of my location. and obviously it's contaminated with some shit.

should i spray paint the liner?

and should i leave this hot mess play out to see what it becomes? :p

i'v never tried mushrooms so i'm determined to get it right

thanks for the link on josex method. i'll study up some more

Can I suggest at the risk of being yelled at that you start at PF tek? IMO its so much easier to get ur first fruits and a bit of confidence (and magic) under your belt in a reasonable amount of time with lots of forgiveness for mistakes and still learning the basic concepts of whats happening and what youre looking for.
Imho I wouldnt of wanted to start any other way than PF tek for my very first grow, but thats just me. Especially if youre trying to get your first mush experience sooner than later.

:whathesaid:

You should do an easier tek your first time. Even experienced growers who have never used LC before have trouble getting it right their first time.

I agree with what the gentleman above me posted. Also I say ditch the glovebox and use a Still air box. Glove boxes can actually make air current from the movements being made.

This. When I tried a glovebox at first (against both the tek and what people on here were telling me) every last agar plate I tried got terribly contamed. Like a dust storm of mold spores ripped throu the glovebox while i was working.

Built a proper SAB, now I have way WAY less contams

don’t spray paint your liner; light isn’t a pinning trigger so you don’t need to worry about it for side pins.

i get this in bacterial subs sometimes. never the full thing like that tho

that fluffy stuff got dusty so i'm getting rid of it.
the grain spawn just looked white at start.
i'm getting rid of the LC also.
Starting all over. this time first grow agar plate from spores. will look for the healthy looking ones. then use josex method to make LC

i still think my biggest issue is getting the spores without contamination.
any advice on cleaning spore print without killing the spores

mush appreciate everything guys.

The LC might be ok, you could test it on agar b4 tossing.

From my understanding the way to clean up spores is scrape them into agar and separate the clean mycelium from the contam and do this a few times until you have a clean plate

EDIT: Just so you know pretty much ALL spore syringes/prints are going to have at least trace contams. Even from the best vendors, thats why people push testing on agar first. Good luck

ashtray is right, you wanna go spore to agar to clean up dirty prints. i can almost guarantee you’ll never get clean LC from scraping a print into LC

Thanks guys, that explains allot!
at the fast rate (and locations) the fluff grew through the compost manure which i 100% sterilized in the oven and i used PC on Grains with clean shit all the way.

i think i can safely say my LC is contaminated.

I'll confirm with an agar plate since i have to start over with agar anyways..

So much for hitting short cuts.

Lessons learned:
Spore to LC is a no no, hehe at least for me.
Fast growing Salmon/Pink Fluff turns to dust and is a contamination.
Even though LC looks legit and clean it could be something else.

It would be nice to know what this SALMON/Pink Color Fluff shit actually is..

Thanks again guys. Hopefully I'll get it right Next time.
