Sickening news this morning...
    #2726809 -

i turned on the local channel 2 news this morning, and what i saw was sickenign. In palo alto and mountain lion was spotted roaming around a mountainside neigborhood, so the polic were called, and then they shot it dead. This was followed by pictures of about 6 police holding rifles.

Wtf is that? these squinne build houses in the natural habitat of an animal, and when they see the anioumal they kill it.

Why didnt they call someone to catch the animal and take it to somewere safe? they killed the poor thing!

that is disgusting, i should never have watched the news this mourning.

Haven't you heard? We're phasing out wild animals in America to make room for more sprawling suburbs. It's part of congressional bill #20334.

large predators tend to make suburbanites (& sheepfarmers) sorta nervous...
sad, when "wild" = "bad" ...

Yeah they could have shot it with one of them dart guns, but I suppose the local PD wouldn't have that kind of thing handy.

Maybe you shoudl front the bill for such a thing?

I imagine whoever made the decision to kill it did so with proper information regarding the pros and cons.

oooooooook. Well, I would foot the bill. It is our duty to take care of the wildlife we displace. It is sick how humans think they own the world. It disgusts me to see suburban sprawl taking over the homes of the wild animals. We could be a lot more intelligence in urban planning imo.

Humans are like any other creature.  I'm sure you dont give a second thought to all the bugs you step on and kill every day of your life. murderer.

P.s.  humans do own the world.  We are the most sucessful species in current existance.

I think the guy in the matrix said it pretty well when he says humans are viruses, we multiply and spread, consume every natural resource available then move on. We have no equallibrium with our enviorment.

Actually I do, Mndfreeze. I see you like a good argument just like I do.  I really don't kill bugs unless they are eating my garden, and then I try to do it as humanely as possible, and with a little prayer for them  and without nasty chemicals too....if there is one in my house I put it outside.

P.S. Like I said before, Yeah- we are so successful that we are killing everything in our path while we dig our own graves

Damn, that really sucks.  :frown:

We had some recent mountain lion attacks south of where I live 'cause there's a bunch of rich fuckers building houses where they have no business living.  Don't think they ever caught it, though...poor fuckin animals didn't ask for all these people in their habitats.

You kill bugs daily without even noticing or thinking about it.  Being humane is great when its convienent for someone.  I dont really see the difference of you killing bugs or someone killing a mountain lion other then people percieve one as 'icky pest' and another 'beatiful creature'.

I know I kill microscopic organisms daily without thinking about it- same with my food, though I do eat low on the food chain. Where we differ though, is that I do see the difference between intentional killing and nonintentional. I try not to intentionally cause suffering to any animal or creature. Once in awhile I do slip though of course, because I'm human. Your argument doesn't hold with me because it is a matter of opinion.

I quite understand the difference between intentional and nonintentional. Killing is killing however. You even admitted to killing bugs in your backyard. Sounds like humanity when convienent to me.
