Food Dehydrator

Hey all,
My friend's first successful grow; almost to the end now. He got all excited and recalled somewhere that Food Dehydrators work best for drying. He bought one and disconnected the heating element; blows only room temp air now.
Is a dessicant chamber necessary to make them "cracker dry"? Or will two days in the FD do the job? What works best, considering he already has his FD tricked to rock?
Gracias Big Juan Only one FAQ mentions FDs and it is short. What do you guys think? Do ya use them?

Hey,
Food dehydrators work fabulously. No fuss and minimal loss of potency. My kitten puts dessicant underneath the first screen in the bottom for that extra umph for getting the shrooms dry. Maybe you can do that with yours.

I use a fd that has an adjustable therm on it...I set it at 95 and drys them GREAT no noticable loss in potency and large amounts are done within a couple days instead of a couple days in front of the fan then a couple days or more in the desiccant chamber

there seems to be mixed opinions on the FD's. I just bought one too at a thrift store. Some people told me not to use it cause it has a heating element, others told me it's fine. Unfortunately, mine doesn't have a fan, so if doesn't use heat then it's got nothing. I used mine anyway with heat and it dried them out nice but I never got to eat them to test potency since I discovered my caked now might be contaminated.

They work great, wouldn't use anything else.

Just heat. Hmmm....hard call. Mine has adjustable heat on it with a fan.
