What's wrong with my computer?

I don't know what the problem is, but just recently the pointer of my mouse seems to be freezing up. Such as the pointer on the screen will suddenly freeze and not move, and I have to press crl and alt to get it to move again. Also, it's very jumpy, but it does it the most when I'm on the internet.

I think it's getting worse too.

So is it a problem with my mouse, or the computer itself? And why does it do it much worse when I'm on the internet?

Yes, it could be an IRQ conflict, but I'd try re-installing the mouse drivers first. If you're using the system drivers for it, try getting the manufacturer's drivers.

I bought a brand new optical mouse today, and it completely fixed the problem.

Check the bottom of your mouse feet, it gets dirty.

Also, if you have a ball mouse take out the ball mouse and clean the inside too.
