Everything sounds like it is going good. You don't have to give it light yet. That is usually used to induce pinning and during fruiting.

Give it SEVERAL more days,and I bet that gellike stuff will turn into fluffy ropey mycelium. 5 days ain't very long

I agree with the Dr. Give it a while longer before you worry. EQ seem to be slower than alot of the other strains anyway.
