Gotcha. Thnx for clearing that up for me.

Ok, at this point i pretty much have to start all the way back from a stack of clean masters. Will get some light malt extract seeing as how most all recipes use it. Gotta make a mass of plates and let them sit for two weeks to make damn sure they're sterile.

T-Gel without additives is quite hardy, I intentionally exposed a few plates to air for a few days, then I added the lid.
So far the only thing T-Gel germinates from air exposure is a few types of mold and other fungi (wild).

I've yet to see yeast or bacteria germinate, though some bacteria can be transferred.
Spore work should be done on another media-recipe, then transferred.

T-Gel is pro-mycelial in the way that nothing else seems to grow on it, (bacteria and yeast).

----

Note:

T-Gel plain (no additives) contains no sugar sources (no sugar, no starch, no cellulose).
Mycelium must decay and convert the tea phenols into sugar and other.

Example sugar making process: Formose reaction

You can make great use of multi spores, multi strains, multi genetics (which ever term you like).

If you use a media that contains the materials from the substrate you intend to fruit from, you will get 'gene expression' (strains), that do well with those materials (and pH, so on).
For example, if my fruiting media was a mixture of grain and coir, my agar media (for isolation) should contain these materials (where possible).

It's possible to boil coir and use the water, or, flour the coir with some spawn grain together (grinder).
You can also add small amounts of course coir to grain jars, (various benefits).

----

Note:

It's more ideal to get gene expression and a phenotype with an oxygen level you also intend to fruit at, (monotub oxygen level).
The more oxygen the mycelium has, the more it's able to decay and produce materials, (including antioxidants).

----

The result should be a strain or strains that are very well suited to it's media and environment.

There's PMs for this. This is the mycelium on agar picture thread not the tea agar info thread.

I thought about it and looked at some of my pours while thinking about it.

My agar does come out very wet on top. Sitting in the sab for a night or two without being sealed can make them dry up.

Should be typical of agar though is to be moist ontop its just a wet type of substrate like jello. The reason its probably so noticeable is the difference between the organic shaping vs looking at mea all the time that is flat as well as clear.

My plates also last very long sealed as well I noticed I still have some from over a year ago doing fine.

Mushroom type above same type of plates below them, mica is a swab plate, bernardi is a new clone on top of a spore plate transfer, with squarrosa I have all white myc and one with yellows a mushroom similar to terrestris does the same thing but instead of orange it browns.

Does healthy mycelium have rings in it as it grows out on a dish?
Or is it contaminated with acremonium

Rings form from either temperature or lighting changes, somebody remind me which.
