I wonder how many of them actually are?

Seems like ~70% identify as Christian, 62% claim to be part of a church, and less than half actually go to church. Utah is the state with the highest church attendance, at 51% of the population. Also the only state where more than 50% go to church.

It'll be what fails America.  Entirely believing in false teachers.  Real mystical experiences are beyond powerful with zero way of communicating that.

In fact today mystical experience is a mental health symptom.  Probably because authorities claim so much bullshit.

Peope putting hope into a power that isn't what they think and hope.  Hope is the greatest delusion.

Like Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump had no use for religion until he ran for President. I still think he has no religion in his personal life, but he knows it's a useful political tool, and an absolute requirement when running for higher office as a Republican. Trump felt no reason to fake being religious earlier because he never thought he would be a Republican.

What do you think Trump should do?

Now that the rest of Syria is relatively peaceful, I think Kurds might want to consider reintegrating back into Syrian society.  Our attempt at regime change has failed (but when has regime change ever been successful for the people?)

And it looks like that's EXACTLY what's happening:

Kurds Align With Syria After U.S. Withdrawal
Quote:
Kurdish forces once allied with the U.S. in the fight against ISIS have forged a new alliance with Syria after Washington abandoned them. The deal has sparked a new exodus of people from the region.

The Kurds are returning to Syria now.

I know I'll take a lot of grief for saying this, but I gotta hand it to Trump for pulling that one off.

6 dimensional chess. The god emperor pulled it off.

By abandoning the Kurds after guaranteeing their safety, and leaving them susceptible to genocide by Erdogan, we forced the Kurds to submit to Assad in an effort for survival. Just like he drew it up, and definitely a good outcome.

Perhaps we can nuke Syria once the Kurds attempt to repel the Turkish invasion, on account of them being a nato ally, and achieve The Greater Good.

US troop withdrawal from Syria and peace in Syria really isn't that bad of an outcome.

You throw out the word 'genocide', but how many Kurds were killed after the US withdrawal?  Just over 100?  And how many were killed before that?  At least 10,000?  Maybe it isn't such a horrible outcome?

I do agree with you, they'll have to 'submit to Assad in an effort for survival' but what alternative do you have that you think is better?  More endless war?

Perhaps we can stop with the bad faith make believe?

Look, I know you're a super smart guy, but we seem to have one fundamental difference.  You want to make Trump look bad at any cost, I want to make him look bad only where he's bad.  I realize from posting here long enough that I'm likely in the minority.

Weeeeell not exactly, it took a few bombs from Turkey to get things moving, however kudos for being pretty close

 yes you sure are at the moment, but let's face it, it's more like a pig being wrestled in the mud type of grief.

Looks more like a combined Trump/Erdogan Kabooki Theatre production to me.

Saying that, a news reporter on the ground was just saying he witnessed a real time power shift.

The whole situation makes me shake my head in disbelief, what a waste.

You know that this opens the door for Turkish NATO troops to start firing on/be fired on by Russian-backed Syrian troops? Especially if the Kurds do actually reintegrate, making them Russian-backed-Syrian-backed-troops?

It's kind of a worst case scenario, sure, but I smell a potential article 5. Which means war with Russia...you know, the one Hillary was going to start!

Addendum: as of eight minutes ago, the NYT reported there are Russian troops on the ground in northern Syria already, working with Syrian troops.

Seems to me like a land grab from every side now--Kurds are racing to retake Turkish occupied land, Syrian troops/Russian troops are rushing to reinforce Kurdish held land, while allowing the Kurds to assault Turkish troops freely on their own to prevent accusations of aggression, and Turkey is trying to take and hold as much territory as it can before it runs into Russian/Syrian troops and risks a NATO/Russia conflict.

Here's another fun wrinkle that I must admit I didn't know before: the US has 50 nukes sitting in a Turkish military airfield left over from the cold war.

Turkey has always resisted efforts by the US to remove those nukes. Apparently Erdogan recently referenced them in a speech, saying he would resist any attempts by the US to remove "their nuclear deterrent".

It's become far easier to destabilize and promote disunity.

Messages half as effective used to be dropped from expensive planes.
Now it's a click.

It wouldnt have cost much.

Trump threatened to "wipe out Turkey's economy" if they take things too far.

And it seems to me borders are returning to where they were before.
