How did you make money in college?

Thinking of starting a business on the side. I can't say what it is because I don't want competition.

A lot of kids work as lifeguards.  Flexible schedule and usually an easy job.  Drug testing though.

I worked as a TA. The hourly pay looked good on paper but a contract would be 60 hours for a semester. So it wasn't really all that much money for the stress load. But I have social anxiety and hate public speaking so it caused me more stress than it would some people.

Just requires cpr and lifesaving certificate.  They had that class in highschool.  I had already learned it for years before, after my sister had a seizure.  We were all pool rats.

Had a friend who later became a lot of drama.  He'd come to his lifeguarding job on acid and other times high.  He would freak out on acid and couldn't sit in the chair.

Just be warned that liability and failing a drug test is a big no no.  Like if you got hurt in a factory it's always your fault if you failed a drug screen.  But with other peoples lives when a lifeguard.

I worked a full time job at a hardware store. And wrote papers for people for money through a website.

I was tending bar while dealing cocaine.  A highly lucrative combo but also high risk.  It’s crazy to think about all the risky shit I did at that stage in my life.

I bar tended and did a lot of cocaine, not that far off risk wise. Less lucrative though.

I just did dogshit civil service temp jobs during the summer months to save up a few thousand; revenue, agriculture and welfare in that order; didn't need to work at all during college months coz of that. Most people I know worked weekends during term time and went abroad for the summers doing "work" and travel, they probably had more exciting lives though

I had two work study gigs: one as a teacher's assistant at a nearby high school program, and another working the front desk at my dorm, scanning ID's and checking in guests. That, and retail/food service/theatre gigs - stage door and ushering at a theatre, working at an ice cream shoppe for a summer - that was exhausting on my hands ! and a couple of months at a snooty card & gift store.
