I appreciate the love people. I don’t expect anyone to ditch their current setups to switch to this. But for anyone looking to replace an old tub or for new people just getting started, I hope this proves useful. In fact I really think this would be the best for new people. It’s hard when starting out to know how to dial in polyfil or tape. Constantly seeing posts from people who are unsure about how tight their poly is or how many layers of tape to use. This removes the guesswork. Drill the tub and done.

Absolutely.

You still need to know what "dialed in" means, but, like I said before, I only had to mist once and that got the humidity set right. I'm running some second flushes with just a super heavy mist and a little bottom water on a couple. We'll see how it plays out, but so far, it looks good.

And Pasty, this absolutely rocks, and I'm grateful to be one of the beneficiaries of your experiment and proof of concept.

It works, it's easy, and I can keep a 1/4" drill bit from disappearing around here!

here they have a 54qt kind of tub that bod uses in his unbodified  tek for 8.99 thats the best price ive seen and what i bought for mine as i am currently running both teks

i use a 1/4 dowel pin that i ground  to a tapered point i mark my holes with a sharpie then heat the sharp end up and just push it thru and take a razor blade and shave off the melted burrs. its easier than having to b careful while drilling i know i have cracked a shit ton of tubs over the years

Here's a pic of my first ez dialed mono.

It was my first go at a clone run. Not totally impressed but not disappointed either. I wish they were a bit bigger. Not sure if it was not the best clone or not the best spawn. I have more coming so we will see.

Those are not done quite yet, they looking pretty good to me. But just cause something is a clone doesn’t make it better.

I went to harvest right after I took the pic, I realized was too early. Waited till this morning and took all with veil broken but left the majority. I would have liked to take all at once but will not be around for a bit and dont want the rusty mess.

I will post weight after.

I must add I think I have to tape over the optional holes. The temps have risen a bit and some tubs are drying out a bit before even colonized. I started weighing my bricks to accurately add the right amount of water and making sure I achieve proper field capacity so I dont think that's the issue.

Yeah sounds like the optional holes might be a bit much for your situation. I only got away with them this summer which was unusually wet. I won’t be able to use them this winter and will be taping them up myself.

Both tub spawned 9/11. Same ratio, same sub contents, spawn from same LC.

Pics are blurry but you get the idea. Pasty tub is colonizing faster. Will update when pins hit

Here's mine. Made at same time with same spawn ratio from jars made on same day with the same lc. Only difference one lid flipped and one tub ez dialed.



And my tub was 1643 wet and 182 dry. Would you suggest hunting for a new clone? Beautiful though and did harvest alot a bit early.

So I am indeed looking to update my tubs and experimented with holes at one point but then forgot about it for some reason, so I’m planning on making one of these.  A question or two, are you leaving the holes completely open for fruiting or taping with micropore tape? And what height of substrate runs best in these?
