I don't think he meant actually all out warfare in the streets, but man the political climate & environment is exceedingly toxic right now. The hatred from both sides is at an all-time high. At least in my lifetime.

OP to your original point, people are losing their shit because they, as you are, have been spoon fed absolute crap and lies from the media lol. Stop reading articles. Stop reading the news or listening to those sowing chaos. Politics? Throw them out the window lol. Rhetoric in the trash. Develop your own ideas and learn from experience rather than being told what to think.
Go out live life and enjoy each other and you will find the world is not such a scary place after all!

That’s my 2 cents. No politician is responsible for what is put on your television.

Don't go to the news feed, get off social media, don't buy into that shit and do something positive for your community. The world is what you make it and "journalists" are in a dying industry that sensationalize the news to sell clicks.

It ain't so bad. Violent crime near the lowest point in recorded history, and most of us are in some of the safest countries in the world. It ain't perfect, but there is no sense being scared of shit that doesn't exist or you can't do anything about.

The US is not heading into a civil war and criminals don't have easy access to guns.  It's HARD to get a gun as a felon.  And civil war requires some sort of safe boundry and Government.

It's rebellion and that is all.  Squashed by Government as usual.

In relation to "doing something" and how the hippies were persecuted, watched and sometimes jailed. Well, the Australian government watches me. I'm not an ordinary bloke. I don't accept pretty much any scientific outlook on reality, I have my own understanding, and the government watches me because it is obviously right, and it is growing in breadth of understanding, and that means boundaries in society are becoming shaky from what I know, since they do not know if I cross them or not, or to what extent, and how it influences the world around me, not only socially and culturally by setting an example but by hints at the possibility that even the weather in my vicinity is influenced by my state of mind.

However from what I can gather they are pretty satisfied with my behaviour given it's impossible for anyone to know what sort of power I may have. I may have more than even I imagine presently. My brother is a homocide detective in the Police force and we are quite close, so I'm a member of the "Police family" and in at least two recent and severe instances of breaking the law I believe there have been some discussions about making the consequences easier for me, before applying a penalty.

I keep no secrets and plan to keep it this way. I try harder than I should to try and open people up to my ideas on daily basis in quite a sustained manner. I bring only love into society no matter how many people feel threatened by the X or question marks concerning my understanding and position, and I discipline and suffer myself in order to keep this love applying itself. I am strictly non-seditionist but I encourage denying most cultural practices and at least for now I have very little interest in going to any institutions to learn or belong.

What I know, if disseminated properly and maturely into society, will be nothing but a positive boon for absolutely every member of the Australian public. The government can see this and pretty much every Police car I go by shows a keen interest in my present circumstances, always positive, quite often with big grins. As it disseminates, I will lose any edge I may or may not have over others, and I discipline my thinking somewhat to make sure this eventuates, not for any moral reason however, but just as a matter of good sense and good nature.

So I mean. If you just get it RIGHT then you don't even have to have enemies, not even government.

SO DO SOMETHING ALREADY. :laugh:

PS. No I am not delusional. :laugh:

And yes talking about civil war in the US is outside my own political and social education, it was more a provocative statement, but some others are suggesting it's possible in this thread, so maybe it is.

Dude I 100% agree. It's completely out of control, and I too blame both sides. The hatred and venom that is spewed from both sides is at such a boiling point that I just don't see it reversing. It's all the media. People aren't any more extreme than they used to be. In America there are still people alive who remember a time when it was reasonable to believe that black people shouldn't be part of general society, i.e. segregation. People have been espousing fears of a civil war since probably the fucking civil war. There is absolutely no reason to believe now is any different

That's a difficult question, but one approach to identifying/ranking public harms is looking at death statistics. You're probably aware that heart disease kills something like 600k people a year. Probably 20 times more people than gun-related violence (I'm generalizing my numbers here). But more importantly, decreasing heart disease could likely be achieved super easily: diet modification and 20 minutes of activity per day.

I'm not trying to minimalize gun violence. I think something should be done. I'm just trying to point out the average person's response to gun violence is far more emotional/visceral than other things. We should be aware of relative harms to keep things in perspective here.


Actually the solution to gun crime is not that complicated. Get rid of the guns. That’s the solution. It wouldn’t happen overnight but it would work. We just refuse to do it.

Yeah being murdered is incredibly unlikely for most people in the first world who don't associate with very bad people. If you're going to die from some sudden unexpected circumstance, it's a lot more likely to be something mundane like a car crash.
