I don't agree with that statement.  California or anywhere is isn't all that much better.

Midwest is very cheap to live, used to be more so.  Land, good land is affordable.  For what kids pay for a bunk bed in Cali, I have a house and spending money.

i'm here to tell you education has little to do with intelligence.

That’s a ridiculous statement. A dumb person can get a college degree and very smart people drop out of college, but the education system will certainly weed out truly stupid people over smart ones. But I’m not just talking about native intelligence. Education is about learning. Learning facts. Learning how to think about those facts. Learning how to analyze the world. Learning discipline. Educated people are exposed to more ideas and are forced to think rigorously.  An education makes people functionally smarter, regardless of how intelligent they are.

Inherent intelligence is pretty worthless in a world where things are increasingly abstract anyways. And especially so when you realize that opportunity is worth more than genetics. Only on rare occasions do genetics mean an advantage anymore. In this sense, Republicans are absolutely the more disadvantaged political group, in fact they actively cheer themselves on in this regard.

How about we all stop talking about politics on this site? We would all probably be best friends in real life and this shit is kind of dividing us up. None of us have the power to change the government so why argue about it? I think everything is being controlled and that we only have the illusion that presidents and other politicians can make a difference.

This is the politics sub, mate. While I agree with you to some regard, especially that of the friends notion, there's nothing wrong with talking about politics. In fact, I'd argue that trying to understand different perspectives is paramount to a function democracy.
