Incubating filter patch bags outside??

So my pallet growhouse adventure has been turning into a full on pallet farm. I just finished my incubation shed, my old grow shed is now being turned into the lab, and the grow rooms are just now starting construction. I live in a vary mild climate 60-70s all year. My question is for my incubation chamber... need I wrap it in poly? Can I incubate just in the room on shelves in a dry space? My concerned are.. 1. Lots of airborn contaminated settling on bag filters 2. The temperature of an enclos d plastic room, even with air exchange.  If I have the room open ( very breezy where I’m at) the bags will stay much cooler in incubation so this is the way I am leaning. Even the nice cold air coming up between the slots in the ground pallets is good, unless... I really should be worrying about the amplified microbes blowing around in the air. Anyone with experience growing in grungy warehouses, garages in the tropics sub ptropics incubating outside. I would to hear from you. Many thanks. _BD

I don't think I would worry too much about wrapping it in poly. The filter patch should be good enough. I would worry more about keeping the temperature at a steady 72F for oysters. By keeping the temp steady you will get more consistent flushes. You will also be consistent on timing from spawn to fruit. That is if you use the same amount of spawn in each bag. I use a 4 oz spoodle for 5 to 6 lb blocks. By using a spoodle I do not waste time or spawn. Because I know how much spawn I need to do a certain amount of bags. Colonizing temps are a problem. If not kept right. You will be all over the place and not be able to be consistent. In my opinion, colonizing temps are more important than fruiting temps although both are important.

Thanks for the response shroomsisay. Controlling temperature is out of my control as I am completely off grid with a minimal solar setup. The temps here are very consistent but can swing ten degrees day to night, just something out of my control as of now. A big reason I’m doing this is I’m so far in the boonies there is really no work, my wife got one of the only jobs in the small town of 1000 near by.. though there are no mushroom farmers growing common oyster or lions mane on this island, and it hopefully will show some profit. I could insulate the room, though for more consistent temperatures.

I put it in a spawn bag and seal the bag with paper clips then I PC with the spawn or sub bags. My bags are finished colonizing in 10 days although I wait 14 days to fruit. I have a consistent 72F in my colonizing room. For me the benefits of the spoodle are great. I know how much spawn I need each week so I am not wasting spawn. My colonization of all bags are consitent and last but not least it is quick and easy. Using a spoodle is probably not the best idea if you don't have a flow hood though. The spoodle is all one piece so there are fewer places for contamination to hide in crevices. I have never had a contamination problem using it.

I do it all the time. It's not so bad once you learn to ignore there howling and crying. The hard part is getting them in the PC. I am only joking I love poodles! They taste just like chicken.

My pc has a warning label right on it. "WARNING do not place poodle inside. May result in death. (Ignore if in China or Nigeria)

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Insulation is expensive and I am not sure how much it would help without something to bring up or take down the temp like a heater or air conditioner. You will just be a little more inconsistent in timing.

Word thanks yeah this is all about being cheap. going to hang a shade cloth up high over the roof to keep the sun off the metal roofing and hopefully keep it a bit more consistent. I’ll update ya when I get rockin and make a post to help share the knowledge of off grid mushroom farming. Aloha and blessings!
