2 large spawn bags in a 21-qt pressure cooker
    #3432492 - 12/01/04 01:47 PM (16 years, 10 months ago)

Will 2 large spawn bags fit (either side-by-side or stacked) in a 21-quart pressure cooker? I'm just curious as if the 21-25-quart cookers I see still only take 1 5-6 puond bag of substrate, I might as well get the 15 or 18 qt it would seem--large quantities of jars are not a priority, but the bags are.....any thoughts?

Mark

I often do two large spawn bags at a time in my 21 quart pressure cooker, of course they are only about half full.

Cyber, does this mean the 21-qt only fits 2 at half-full, or are you leaving them that way for some reason?

Well you don't want the stuff to cover the filter patch(contamination path and lack of air exchange) and some substrates expand quite a bit when they cook.you don't want them swelling up and blocking the vent while you are cooking them!I put a corel plate on top of mine when they are cooking so they don't block the vent by accident.
