Haven't but used to watch em quite a bit growing up in San Diego. There a few spots along the coast there where they're constantly congregatin and doing this:

Seems awesome to get at one day. What is it like a 2 week instructional course until you can go off on your own or wut?

I'll be training in Hangliding qhich is the framed triangles.
Your picture is of Para gliding.

A hangliding license takes a couple of weeks whilst Para is 1 week usually.

This spot is a stroll from my house....so this will be me in a few weeks ...hopefully.

Oh word. My noob ass didnt know the difference till now. They both seemed fairly comparable training-wise, but the 'triangles' are clearly way more badass, imo. They look like giant paper airplanes. And when i put a bit more thought into it, i can see why hangliding is more involved actually. You can probably pull off much faster maneuvers, etc.

Yes, I did one day at Kittyhawk.
Fun, but They didn't let us get more than a few feet off the ground.
I would have loved to go off a cliff.
The full training is the way to go!

I have wanted to hang glide since I 1st saw it. I even went to the library (that was a place for books kids, be fore the net) and checked out a book on how to build one, lol. I want to do it before I die. It seems like the closest a person can get to being a bird.

I've gone hangling twice, but both times were with instructors strapped on. Was a lot of fun though. Surprisingly calming each time rather than adrenaline fueled.

There is a spot here where you see paragliders sometimes. Similar to the location The_Ghost posted a picture of, sandy bluffs by the lake.

Before you die, yes, but hopefully not RIGHT BEFORE you die!

I know! It looks extremely dangerous, but I feel the need to fly like a bird.

Growing up in Hawaii, i would hear stories of people hang gliding and crashing. There was some famous cliff on O'ahu i think where a lot of people died trying to hang glide  Dangerous shit. But it looks pretty damn fun :awesome:

Never tried it but want to. Closest thing Ive done is Parasailing.

"To triumph without risk, is to conquer without glory"
Poster on my bedroom wall growing up.
Got myself into a few situations...chanting that mantra.

It is still one of the most dangerous sports you can do but the technology has come along way over the decades.

I've always dreamt of flying.
Ive forever studied the birds.
I've spent the last few years (rc) gliding.

I am just now over the Crest of sensible enough to do it whilst still.yound fit and able.

@Trex ....I sat bolt upright in the middle of the night a week ago...with what you said screaming in my ear/ dont wait.

Training has commenced.
1st day was meant to be spent going through the theory test.
I was sort off ahead of the curve so it was done in an hour.

Ever had that dream of gliding of a green sloped hill.
Today I did it.

Tommorow we go bigger. By the end of the week...conditions allowing itll be of a Mt.
