Last time I tried I busted my ass but I am 10 years older now and will take it very slow. Are skateboard shoes extremely helpful or just kinda?:bow2:

Yes, or preferably any flat sole, closed shoe will do. It's main use is for grip and durability.

Just get something flat bottomed, I don't think it matters much besides that - I skate barefoot a lot also though

I find the old 80's skateboards with gel wheels to be the best for transport.

Theyre nice and wide, not too long and you can still ollie them because they have a kicker. Some of my friends have Z-flex's but the kick isnt big enough imo.

I agree though that normal trick boards are too much work for just getting around. I previously rode a trick set up but when I stopped doing tricks and going to skateparks, I made the switch.

this is what seperates a longboard, and any other sk8board from the modern sk8boards...

It's good for joint support, but later on in life it increases the chance for arthritis.

If I were you, I'd buy everything seperately. Get the deck local and the trucks, bearings and wheels online. Get good quality trucks and bearings and you won't be pushing every 5 meters haha

My special trick was the hardflip. At some point I was landing hardflip to bs5050. I was never good at switch tho. Could only land a switch fs bigspin. It didn't make any sense to me why would I try switch flips instead of doing normal varialheels or something like that. I guess I wasn't gangsta enough :hehehe:

Longboarding ftmfw.

Carving sidewalk and sliding is far superior to walking.

I managed to get the idea of nollie tres only once when I had new shoes and a new board. It seemed bizarrely simple and I couldn't repeat it a few days later :justdontknow: I could land a nollie bigspin bs noseslide or a flip to bs nosegrind but never really did a switch 5050.

It's ironic because the hardflip isn't hard at all.

I have a car, but skate to all my classes. I see way more longboards on campus, but I still prefer my skateboard. I like my trucks super loose to feel the ride more. The snow is about to fall soon. So I'm going to miss skating to class, but my season pass at the local mountain will make up for it.

yeah I never understood why its called a hardflip. Its much easier than a 360flip.
