To me people who say evolution or growth isn't happening are desperately trying to resist inevitable change, or can't emotionally deal with the temporary nature of the world.

Perhaps they miss to see the beauty which change can offer if only they jump aboard the grooviness thereof.

We might assume change means 'death' , but I'd also argue it means 'birth'.

Personally I believe as rgv said, that we should maintain a level of non-judgmental observance and not cling too quickly to conclusions.

I believe intelligence grows when we try to seek out what we don't know.

Well, maybe just a mechanism of constant change, with memories to ensure sanity.

It's not so much those who say evolution isn't happening as much as those who say it didn't happen.

As in saying it didn't happen in the case of the ape soul transitioning to the human soul.

Who is Sudly to me? Someone who wants the world to believe that souls did and still do evolve.

Maybe something they simply can't deny.

I think it maybe depends in which situations we consciously put ourselves in. Maybe we control how we morph. But not the act of morphing itself...:shrug:

The inclusion of 'soul' is a nice touch, since I believe it makes the generally and perhaps ironically rigid idea of evolution more humane, and perhaps, in some sense more true.

Do I think we can control evolution?

I think like a compass we can turn dials and head towards what we individually and/or collectively consider growth.

For now, but again that’s not necessarily a foundational belief of mine and is open to adopt new ideas.

Do you think evolution is strictly positive, negative or simply adaptive?

So maybe just for survival? Will we survive because of some loving force, or is 'survival of the fittest' a given?

I think maybe the last mentioned perception turns a lot of people away from the idea of evolution since it is very cold.

Personally I feel love even in an almost spiritual sense is very natural.

I think evolution is fully encompassing.

I can take a step back though.

When bringing the evolution of the soul into the discussion I am bringing in a new concept, not one of evolution on the genetic scale, but of one on the individual scale, as in the evolution of a soul within an individual lifetime. Perhaps soul-evolution can better be used here.

What I meant by 'turning dials' was referring to the way in which we aim towards achieving the desires and growth goals we set for ourselves.

If there are no goals, and nothing is set out to be achieved, then on the individual level, for me at least, it seems more difficult to find or make change.

So I don't think we can control evolution in the usual sense, that comes down to random mutation and adaptation in ones environment.

But I do think we can control soul-evolution in the sense of how we develop as individuals throughout our lives.

Well, to compute is to reckon or calculate, and that seems reasonable, makes sense.

A simple concept may appear simple, but enacting it for results isn’t. Amazing physiques aren’t theoretically difficult but in practice they’re more of a challenge and it’s that idea I’ve been looking in to.
