Yeah, but the ONLY way this will work (like recycling, protesting something, world peace, etc...) is if EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE PLANET takes a stance and does it collectively. It will not work any other way period. So, it won't happen. That passive aggressive "I care about the treatment of animals so I'm not eating meat" and watching absolutely horrifying films/docs on how food/meat gets to the store does absolutely nothing but make people sick a lot of the times obviously. (in more ways than just mentally) Power tripping people always try to influence others and impose their will on others, fuck them!

Northerner- I really hope the doc is a very good one and explains to your wife that if she needs to eat some meat, that she really does it as much as possible to retain health and have a long life with you. I heard what you said about watching helplessly as someone destroys their health and you just can't tell them anything that they will listen to. Good luck to you, the wife, family, and your loved ones.

PS- I do recycle though, it's easier here in Denver and having a house with the right bins.

Whatcha reckon Northerner? Can you turn the Missus into a female bloodwhip for optimum health and fighting ability?

Progressing trends still eventually add up to something significant - the amount of meat consumed by subsequent generations in the US has fallen consistently - that will amount to something eventually. I mean - when is there ever any, everyone on the planet instantly does it, sort of things? All progress is gradual, and sometimes even at times reversed.

A lot of people revolt against the idea of at all switching up their diets for any possible reason (Unless shit started to cost more ) - but even if you're not interested in the treatment of animals, there's something extremely significant to be said about our land use/resource use/food efficiency & pollution in regards to meat production which alone is worth a good deal of contemplation.

I'm an avid believer in the "everythingism" diet. My kids are very healthy because I feed them a varied diet. Last night it was fish and salad with beetroot and seedy bread, the night before frittata with corn and brocolli, the night before that chunky beef pie with mushrooms and kale, the night before that was dahl and jasmine rice, the night before that was veggie rolls with hot chips and gravy., and so on... Just gotta keep mixing that stuff up hey. Our bodies will take what they need and dump the rest. What I'm making isn't even meat heavy, we eat red meat probably only once or twice a week. The sad part is that all my wife has to do to get a balanced diet is eat what the rest of us are eating. It doesn't even require any effort on her part. Fucking local hippies have got in her head and poisoned her with ideas that only make sense if you stare at the sun too long. Fucking hippies.  :crankey:

Humans evolved as omnivores and so I stick to my previous statement. Eggs and milk should be a good basis of proteins.

The best way for a vegan to live a full and healthy life, is to consume semen,  LOTS  of semen.

She doesn't know, just wants to keep throwing money at naturopaths and other bullshit for more years. Doesn't want to face the truth.

It seems like you are heavily invested in her eating meat - and pushing your agenda because she is ill.

I do fancy meat on a rare occasion, but know many healthy vegans. I suspect it may be something different. Does she take a multi-vitamin?

ill bite.  im ready to cite my sources.

look im a nutritionist and a trainer and i want to tell you: , please dont seek info from the internet.  veganism is fine if its dome right-- meaning, correct amino acid profile.

let me recommend some books if you're serious about this.  there are some good contemporary nutritionists putting prolific work out there  and a lot of it has a common theme:  that the food and drug administration has been lying to us for profit sake  and has caused an epidemic of obesity diabetes cancer heart disease etc.

michael pollan, in defense of food, omnivores dilema, cooked.  there's also a Netflix miniseries on the last book called cooked .  I highly recommend it .

dave asprey, the bulletproof diet.  take with a big grain of sand.  i dont buy this myco-toxin bullshit but his thesis coincides particularly with pollan: that traditional diets are a tradition for a reason.
the china study.  more like a text book so be prepared to make notes.

try to focus on the aspects that are common, not different.

remember that our gi tract is similar to that of a pigs.  we can eat nearly anything, but if youre not into reading and want my summary of my studies in brevity:

1 eat food not too much mostly plants.
2 eat as many different vegetables as you can.
3.  eat way more fat.  at least 1000 cal daily but not all fats.  find the good ones.  doing so will cause  A great many health benefits  namely greater insulin sensitivity,  Weight loss ,  as well as not only being a rich source of micro nutrients but  also the critical factor with regard to fat soluble micro nutrients, a d e and K (a whole other can of worms you need to understand)
4.  older traditional diets tend to encapsulate most of what I just said in and of themselves.  think about it:  Japanese Vietnamese Indian french etc.  what do these diets have in common?  A lot of fat and a lot of vegetables .  there's a reason these diets became a tradition .
5.  Grass fed and free range livestock, meat, eggs, milk, butter, etc  Will always have a much denser and diverse profile of micro nutrients. I recommend that you find out why.
6.  different diets work for different people and like I said we are like pigs there's not one right way to do it. At the end of the day we all have to die of something. The idea is to feel good until we do .

7.  disregard anything that the food and drug administration says.

hope that helps  and did not come off patronizing
