First batch and I think this is green mold - can someone confirm?

Sadly familiar. If all your jars are contaminated like that, you need to either sterilize them longer, or take more precautions while inoculating.

I know the standard is "ditch any contaminated jars because they might poison you." However, I have been able to rescue a jar that was 1/3 contaminated, 2/3 colonized. Took it outside, birthed it, cut off the contaminated part and a few uncolonized pockets. Then rinsed the colonized portion with tap water, but really well before fruiting. Still produced a few good fruits, and held me over until the next round of jars was ready for a birthday.

I tried that but when I cut it up the amount of colonized material was quite thin.  I doubt anything will come of it but I'll post if it miraculously works!  In the meantime, I'm just hoping that none of the other jars got affected.  Thanks for the advice!

So, none of the other jar got this mold.  And I did, as promised, slice off the good bits of the cake and two weeks later, this appeared!  WTF?
