This thread confuses me

Reading tips from noobs have me double checking the search engine

Maybe only people with experience should be giving tips

What bad tips have you gotten so far? :shrug:

Verifying by doing your homework is always a good idea and taking advice from TC’s is a good idea too but you don’t have to be a TC to have a good tip to share.

Tip of the Day:

Even while your current grow is fruiting, start planning your next grow so u can have a more constant supply of shrooms in the future once your current substrates are spent.

I’m just saying I have to keep checking the advice of newish folks back on the search bar

Whereas if bodhisattva, rogerrabbit, or older folks with hella grows I don’t have to do double the work

It’s like double the work to sift thru trusted and nontrusted tips that’s all

Don’t rely on memory when labelling plates, have a set system or write it on the plates immediately.

5 empty tuna cans make good spacers in the bottom of your pressure cooker.
Punch holes in the bottom with a hammer and nail so the cans don't trap air.. use canning rack on top of the cans..I use four quarts of water in my 23 quart Presto for long pc time. It's nice to keep the jars/bags/dishes high and dry...

I like the tuna can idea. I'll be using that. I'll also add read your pc instructions and don't guess the water even if you've done it loads before. I recently boiled dry and damaged my pc 😩

For agar work in SAB - I'm reasonably proficient but if it's been a while I'll always do a practice cut or two on either clean agar or stuff I'm not worried about. Then I'll do the good cultures

ya labelling is so important. you think youre smart enough to remember it all till youre looking at a bunch of myc in jars that all looks the same .

Clean spawn over everything.  You can have the best set up in the world but if your spawn is not clean none of it will matter.

Keep your empty spore syringes!

You can wrap them in foil and sterilize them with grain jars to use for LC inoculations!

While not entirely ideal, in a pinch 91% isopropyl can be used as a fuel in lamps for sterilizing tools.

and distilled water to make your own 70%. I've had to do that a few times out of necessity.

If mixing large batches ( or even small ones if you want ) of brf use an electric hand mixer,  makes it nice and fluffy and evenly mixed

Add nitrogen-rich fertilizer to your growing medium, buy more petri dishes, ermm buy a two-liter bottle of still water & use it for liquid culture. ermm buy earbuds cut them in half for swab sticks put the swabs in baggies. ermm keep jars & mushroom tubs for seeds or grain etc.
