Why are my cakes bruised?

Hello again :smile:
Curious why my cakes are brushing? I haven’t touched them at all, I occasionally move them.  I fan them often and wondering if I’m fanning too hard? Is the air brushing them? :shocked:

its bruising because the surface is drying out. use m0r perlite in that ghetto chamber.

Haha yeah, ghetto it is.  It has about 3 inches of perlite. Also I thought I was over misting, they both had puddles on top of them at one point. Could the brushing be from the puddles? If not, I’ll def get back to misting

U need 4inch minimal for perlite. More perlite equals more humidity.

Also a proper FC would perform better. And trimming your foil back would help as well.

I haven't cultivated for long, but the large surface area of your patties may make it hard for fruit bodies to form, it may be fighting contaminants collecting on the foil constantly. I'd recommend inducing the fruitbodies by cooling the temperature by 4-8 Celsius and giving it some occasional direct light till pinheads appear. Really it should be fruiting in a protected container unless it's mycelium that consolidates it outer later like Shittake mycelium.

Dunking in cold water is also popular

I noticed the holes in your fruiting bag are naked, some microporous tape will clean up the air flow and slow down the humidity release from the perlite.
