ID Request: Possible Pluteus velutinornatus? (NZ)

Hey everyone, went on a walk a few weeks back and found this very pretty mushroom growing on a log by a stream. Looks a lot like Pluteus Velutinornatus. Unfortunately I didn't pick it as I didn't know about them at the time (Now it's long gone), would anyone be able to ID it for me? Found in Wellington region, NZ.


(Apologies for the blurry pic, wish it was better/I'd taken more)

On the topic of Pluteus Velutinornatus, what's the status of them in New Zealand? Edible, inedible, active, nonactive? Info on them seems unclear/mixed. Would really appreciate some help.

I'm not familiar with NZ mushrooms, but I did a search and it sure looks like it.  You're certainly in the right area of the world.

They are psychoactive, indigenous to New Zealand and discovered in the 1960's. They contain several neurotropic indoles such as: psilocybin, Psilocin, beaocystin, nor-beaocystn and others I can't remember off the top of my head.  As far as potency, I can't say for sure, but I think they are weak.

I think Pluteus perroseus looks closer, Pluteus velutinornatus has an almost metallic sheen to it. Hard to tell by the one picture though

Wow ive never seen so many interesting things in a mushroom! Extra serotonin to go with the psilocybin and psilocin already interacting with your serotonin inhibitors 😂 tryptophan too which some mushrooms turn into more psilocyben! Mixed with some lsd on the side. Sounds like either the worst or best trip you can have lol atleast i didnt see a maoi on that list.

Edit i also see muscarine i wouldnt do them just because of that

Those chemicals (Serotonin, Lysergic Acid, etc.) are suggested chemicals to test for in future studies, not anything actually found yet inside the Pluteus genus.

Also, serotonin is not an orally active chemical compound for the human body. Instead, the precursor chemical 5-HTP is known to be absorbed and converted into serotonin-- which is found in other mushroom species, namely Panaeolina Foenisecii. Consuming serotonin does not have any psychoactive effects.

oh i really didnt know you didnt absorb that one. I know its not psychoactive i just thought the extra serotonin might maybe effect the afterglow effect
