Aa921 aftermath

Hey there everybody

My AA921 has a warped bottom now. The bottom two bags melted and burst causing grain to soak up the water which then burnt.
I’ve cleaned it well enough but is it safe to use? The bulg is barely noticeable but definitely not flat anymore. My lead melt out over temp safety plug has begun to melt. The inside has some pitting but nothing too deep. I just recently replaced my pressure gauge and don’t want to decommission it quite yet.

At what point is does it become unsafe?

Tthe reason your bags melted is because you ran out of water, the grain didn't soak up the water. Bags can only melt if there is no water inside to keep the temperature low, as water can only get so hot. Or if you use a fuckoff big gas/propane burner that laps up the sides too much.


You shouldn't use a bulged cooker any longer. Aluminum alloys are weakened by bending.

I didn’t use enough rings and the bag touched the sides,

I used a thinner bag this time and actually more water than the last time I cooked bags so there was more than enough water to begin with. I wouldn’t say it ran dry completely but this is the only thing I can guess caused the bottom to bulge

It doesnt matter if the bag touches the sides, unless you have a huge propane burner that laps up the sides. Bags wont melt from touching the sides. They only melt when you run out of water. It doesnt matter how thin they are, I use polypropylene cello bags that are paper thin to cover certain things from time to time.

Awe man, no one died. I thought from the title it was an explosion. Use steel wool on the valve. Use vinegar in a pc cook for 30 mins @15psi. This ain't shit...
