Now that I have my pc...simple wbs question plz help

I have ordered rye grains on amazon because Walmart and kroger by me doesn’t have them... My grandmother has this bird seed and I want to try my luck inoculating wbs.. is this kind good enough to work? I believe I have read somewhere that cracked corn is to be avoided. Anybody’s input is, as always, greatly appreciated!

I wouldnt use cracked corn although im not exactly sure how itd affect preparation (heavy starch?). Ive read sunflower is ok so long as its whole and not a lot of it. Still I remove both when I use store bought WBS.

Also make sure its whole wheat as well... not hulled.

Aside from that only other thing would be using different kinds of grain make it harder to get the water content right throughout.

Go to Rural King or Tractor Supply and grab oats. Come over to the oat side...

Craked corn is super starchy, it'll make everything stick together. If you can't get wbs without it, it'll do. Just don't bring it to a hard boil, simmer (iirc)

I use milo, but like the other poster said, find a feed store and buy in bulk. I pay $10 for a 50# bag. Bird seed is a lot pricier.
