simple innoculatin question!

after you innoculate the jars do u tape over the holes? even if u have alum foil over the whole cap of the jar?

It is personal preference. Some don't like to tape the holes for better air exchange, however, this opens up the doors to contams/mold spores getting in through the open holes. That's not very likely but the posssiblity is still there.

The Raccoon uses a two (2) hole method with wide mouth plastic lids & filter disks. One to innoc through & tape over after (because you poked a hole through the internal filter disk when you inocc'ed w/spore syringe needle).

The other provides some degree of air exchange. The Coon also tightly rubberbands triple paper coffee filters over the jar lids -- pre/PC (so they get sterilized too), removes & replaces the same ones after innoc (swabbed with alc). They arent spendy, easy to use & fit perfectly. Works great. SixTango
