What a bullshit story, IF there's an economic slowdown, it will have little to zero to do with the "trade war" between the US and China.

That's incorrect.
The trade war, call it what you want, has already affected global trade.
In Aus our commodities exports are linked to China's economy, which has already retracted.
I don't expect you to have as much info on Aus as we get on the U.S. as it seems news from Aus usually involves crocodiles, sharks and wierdos, including our equally useless politicians.

The OP asked to discuss.

In recent months, China's economy has taken a beating as a consequence of its ongoing trade war and tit-for-tat tariffs with the United States.

The latest figures revealed that its exports fell by an unexpectedly sharp 4.4 per cent in December, while imports plunged 7.6 per cent — their biggest monthly slide in at least two years.

Yes, China's economy has slowed down, but you haven't provided any evidence it's correlated to reduced trade as the result of Trump's "trade war"

The EU and Japan have also slowed down economically, that has hurt China as well.

And yes, when China slows down that hurts resource producers. The same thing occurred in 2008, it's called economic recession and that can happen for a very large variety of reasons. If you have evidence of what you're asserting, please provide the it. I don't want opinion.

Quote:
Apple's stock plunged 10 per cent to $US142.19 — its biggest single-day drop in six years — after its chief executive Tim Cook warned investors the company's first quarter revenue would be about 10 per cent lower than expected.

"We believe the economic environment in China has been further impacted by rising trade tensions with the United States."

Essentially, Apple's chief said the US-China trade war, and the billions of dollars in tariffs they imposed on each other, has affected his business.

The reasons he gave, and the wider implications for other companies — particular those conducting business with China — caused US and European markets to tumble.

Given that Apple is one of the world's largest companies, the heavy fall in its share price meant it was the biggest drag on Wall Street's performance.

Tim Cook's excuses and beliefs about Apple isn't quantifiable evidence.

You made an assertion, so the burden of proof is on the person who made it, not me.

You do know what scapegoating is? I have no issue blaming Trump's "trade war" for a potential economic slowdown if there's real quantifiable evidence that DIRECTLY supports it, someone's personal belief on the issue doesn't cut it.

BTW, here's the latest news.

Seeing as this is a thread regarding how Trump is viewed overseas this is a sample of some of the political analysis we get.

This is how we roll in Aus, we have no problem hearing from both sides.

Later I traveled to Japan, where the most common remark was "Is trump really about what he says? If so, he's going to start a war"

Thats weird. Because a lot of people in eastern Europe like trump.

Oh they like him alright, who doesn't like an all american joke?

Your idea of a country liking someone is juvenile, especially when his own country's approval rating is historically abysmal. Small numbers of very loud people like him, but that is no different than America. The number of people with buyers regret is growing daily as Jotus' bias against the poor continues to hurt the lower and middle classes.

Poland is known in europe for its high percentage of white supremacists and pretty high COI, better known as inbreeding coefficient. So essentially you're using the Arkansas of europe as your example.

I am not trying to be "better" than a racist, just using the same discrediting tactics trump uses to show you how racist they are. Threw some numbers out used the classic "shithole country" ruse, and got called racist.
Why is it so acceptable when trump does it? Or so surprising he gets called a racist for things y'all identify as racist?

After another vomit worthy speech display of hubris this is just making some traction at the moment around the world.

From the comments section of Japan Today

https://japantoday.com/category/politics/Trump-makes-his-case-for-Nobel-Peace-Prize-says-Abe-nominated-him-for-it

Quote:
Who on earth publicly declares " I deserve the Nobel Prize" and actually means it?

Trump displays many of the characteristics of clinical NPD (Narcisstic Personality Disorder)., a somewhat disturbing illness.

The Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, indicates that persons with NPD usually display some or all of the following symptoms, typically without the commensurate qualities or accomplishments.

- Grandiosity with expectations of superior treatment from other people

- Fixation on fantasies of power, success, intelligence, attractiveness, etc.

- Self-perception of being unique, superior, and associated with high-status people and institutions

- Need for continual admiration from others

- Sense of entitlement to special treatment and to obedience from others

- Exploitation of others to achieve personal gain

- Unwillingness to empathize with the feelings, wishes, and needs of other people

- Intense envy of others, and the belief that others are equally envious of them

- Pompous and arrogant demeanor

Trump's Nobel cause just seems to ice the cake re his condition.

And to hear the MAGA supporters chanting NOBEL, NOBEL, NOBEL.... after he mentioned it at his rally, was....well.... cringeworthy doesn't even come close.

He ticks every dot point and could add a few more.

And what the hell is going on with all the sniffing and incoherent rambling from Fridays false Emergency speech dribble fest??
