I usually buy seven chickens when I go to Costco. I live alone, and I don't cook, so I just stock up on protein for the week.

This was not a problem when I lived in Los Angeles. People there commonly buy chicken in bulk. Some people come and just fill their entire carts with dozens of chicken for an event or whatever.

Anyway, ever since I moved to Cleveland, the Costco here's been a different experience. I find the employees in LA are jaded. I find the employees in Cleveland a bit condescending and patronizing.

The first thing that irks me, is that they want me to load all of the chickens onto the conveyer belt. In LA, this never happened. I just left it, and they'd scan one chicken and multiply it by 7. Here, they want you to tediously load all of them onto the belt, only for them to struggle putting it back into the cart. It's utterly idiotic.

I've tried to reason with a few people, but they cut you off and recite whatever's in their protocol textbook.

I also get a lot of remarks about the amount of chicken I'm buying. It's always in the vein of, "Oh my, that's a lot of chicken!" or "Somebody's throwing a party!"

I don't know what kind of parties they throw, but if I was throwing a party, I wouldn't be offering rotisserie chicken to guests... it would be more like pizza and chips.

Another time, the person loading my cart was telling the cashier, "He's taking all they have," as if I wasn't right there listening.

So everytime I go to Costco here, I get anxious and paranoid. Once the cashier was like, "Aren't you the guy that just came here yesterday and bought ten chicken?"

Of course, this wasn't true, because I only go to Costco once every ten days or so. Nor did I ever buy ten.

I was also asked by another employee what kind of restaurant I run.

If I ran a restaurant, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be making runs to Costco for seven chickens.

Anyway, finally I guess they reached their breaking point. I was in the process of putting the chicken in my cart, and this woman walked up to me and gave me this long spiel about how "I'm wiping them out" by buying all the chicken. And from now on, they want me to drop a custom order into a box that they have in their store. They literally want me to come to the store a day before I buy my chicken just to drop off the catering form.

WTF?

The other thing I find boggling is how tight they run their chicken. If you go on a weekend afternoon, the heat lamps are empty, and people are waiting in line. They don't make nearly enough, and I see a lot of customers just walking away because they don't have the time to wait. And I see they're only operating two out of four of their rotisserie machines.

If you go past 4pm on a weekday afternoon, there's no more chicken, and they're done making them for the day.

In LA, they have tons of leftovers even when you go to the store 30 minutes to closing, and I assume whatever's left is just doled out to the employees or whatever. It's Costco for chrissakes. They're a multi-billion dollar company that could afford to have leftovers. I don't understand why the Costco in Cleveland is being run like some mom and pop.

Maybe I'm trippin.' What do ya'll think?

Raise chickens!

I used to buy like 3 or 4 rotisserie chickens at a time from Sam's and use them in all kinds of chicken dishes I would make for a while before I would need more. Pretty good deal.

The grocery store delis have some sort of vacuum-marinating process and I've not been able to match the flavor of store-bought rotisserie chicken.

Sounds too serious for Shroomery to solve this problem. Might want to write a letter to HQ.

I go to a bakery for coffee sometimes. I got my coffee drink and a pastry and then they started sugar shaming me for having an unhealthy breakfast when literally all they sell is sugary food like donuts, cake, and brownies. I stopped going for a while after that.

Dude,  your worrying to much about nothing, tell them to kiss your ass! Say to them " are you buying my groceries? I didn't think so, mind your own damn business and do your job. "

They will stop talking shit. People like to say snide things, but become dumbfounded when you call them out.

If they want to put limits on how many chickens a person can buy at one time without arranging ahead, they should put up a sign to that effect.

Depends how you feed your chickens.  If you know someone in a restaurant you can feed them mostly off of what is typically thrown out, produce waste, etc.

The science experiments sold in  grocery stores for chicken is nasty, tastes nothing like fresh farm raised birds that free range.

Chlorine baths for meat are used by large companies like Walmart and Costco, it is disgusting.

First go in and buy like 2 chickens. Then go back to the car and put on a fake mustache, go in and by 2 more. Go back to the car and put on a moomoo, then shove a pillow up it and go in there with a walker and buy 2. Then go back to your car and put on a turban and a bed sheet and a fake beard and buy the last one. Seven chickens, no embarrassment, problem solved.

I always thought grocery store rotisserie chicken tastes like preservatives. Is Costco chicken better? I’ve never tried it. But usually their stuff is pretty high quality

Well, imagine Mr. Shop owner, or even Mr cashier who has to answer to Mr shop owner.

Mr shop owner wants to keep all customers happy.

Customers are happy when they are able to buy chicken.

Customers who consume chicken are not happy at least one day a week when one wise guy cleans out the chicken stock.

Customers not being happy would have a knock on effect on Mr shop owner's happiness and subsequently the happiness of Mr cashier.

Maybe Mr shop owner finds himself in a dilemma because he doesn't want to increase the chicken stock on account of one person who may soon himself transform into a chicken and no longer be able to make purchases, not to mind being able to fathom the concept of trading monetary units for goods and services.

Nobody likes a chicken hog.

I think there are certain items at Costco that are loss leaders or pretty close to it. Gas is another one. And then a lot of the other stuff is actually quite expensive, but they confuse the customer with odd package sizes.
