How do I know when to mist? first few shoeboxes

So I made my first few shoeboxes and I don’t know when I should mist them. When I made the boxes at field capacity. Maybe slightly less then FC. I never saw beads of water on the substrate/spawn. So when should I mist? Please help the temps have been around 27-29 Celsius.

There's not really any hard and fast rule buddy, kinda got to play it by ear, feel it out and just get better by practice.

That said, this link might help a bit.

i just misted these last night every so lightly and flipped the lids, 9 days from spawn.

My first one was spawned on the 23rd and the second one was on the 25th . Should I mist them from what you guys can see in the pics?

They look too wet to me. I would lay off on the misting.

Haven’t misted yet and no beads on the substrate/spawn mix. Actually it is starting to look dry on some of the surface that is way I was asking when I should mist. There is a lot of condensation on the walls of the box though.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. I've only used brf.

The condensation can be a good way to know.
If there's none, then maybe mist a little.
Misting should be minimal and just to maintain surface conditions as the sub should already be hydrated enough to push out a flush.
Too much water slows growth and encourages bacteria.

its only been 3 days just seal it up and wait. it looks like its colonizing good, and you have condensation on the walls of the tub. Once its closer to 100% it will start forming beads on the surface then you can flip the lid and maybe mist lightly.

If you properly hydrated your sub to begin with DO NOT MIST until after the first flush. Set and forget is the name of the game.

Most people tend not to until after the first flush, I know I for sure don't need to IME. Should naturally have plenty to get it on the first flush of yum yums.
