Substrate Jar Friend Traded to me

Hello, I traded a Kratom plant for this “plug and chug” mushroom kit from a friend.

I think I made an idiot mistake and shook it up to break up the substrate for more surface area

It seemed like growth stopped.

How long do I have to wait for fruits? Do I need to remove it from the container it’s in to fruit? Do I need light to fruit?

What am I even looking at? It looks like your friend took a bar of used soap, and threw it on the ground and rolled it around. Then after words took it to a driving range and hit a few 400's with it, then loaded it back into the cart and took it to firestone for an alignment but their machine broke down so he was forced to take it to you and traded it for a perfectly healthy plant.

It looks like he gave you a little mini bulk sub in a reused container. If so you didn't need to do anything. What were his instructions? Next time take pics and ask before jumping in.

Looks like a mess.  What even is it?  A jar? A bag?

You could try a transfer into proper grain jars, or transfer some myc onto a dish of agar but that there ain’t no plug nor chug

Nothing but clean cultures go onto sterilized grain.

I’m just saying he could maybe salvage SOMETHING.  🤷‍♂️

Agar would be the most forgiving thing to do.. if it were me I’d probably just botch it and start something right.  That’s no way to get into the hobby.  Read some teks.

I get what you're trying to say but you can't put something dirty onto sterile grain that's not how cultivation works. Only clean cultures go onto sterilized grain.

It could fruit, don't let it dry out, try to case it some how and air it out when you can.

Beyond that it's a wait and see. It's not looking contaminated at least.
