I was wondering what was the best way to store substrate jars before they are inoculated. Any suggestions would be cool. Peace

Yes being cool is the best way. I have had good luck with just keeping in cool place like a refrig. I have not kept them there overly long as I use them quickly but I haven't had any problems that I can trace directly to that. I have actually lately been keeping them in a unheated closet kinda thing.

i put whole brown rice/millet in the microwave to cook and then spooned it into my jars. that was... wednesday i think? its now saturday obviously but i have yet to boil/sterilize the jars and i dont even see one contam; possibly the nuke killed it all. in any event i wil boil my jars today to innoc tomorrow morning and i have actually been storing them in my incubation chamber. i heard once upon a time that contams were easier to kill once (if its mold) the spores germinate so this time i am trying to induce the conatms to start before i kill them. dunno how much truth there is to that but theres no contam in any of the jars after 3 or 4 days of no sterilization. aniiway ive been keeping jars right in my warm closet w/ all other jars and casings to store them.

If you cook millet in the microwave I think you will see contams.
