Who said the ice caps would be gone by 2007? Show me your source.

The trend is clear and compelling: summer sea ice extent is getting closer and closer to an ice free day in the Arctic. Five. Ten. 30 years. Does it matter the exact year? The fact that we that we are so close to an event that has never happened while humans have lived on earth should alarm you.

Do you have any clue how much energy is required to melt ice? The energy absorbed by ice to change its phase to water at 32° is the same amount that would raise the temperature of that melted ice from 32° to nearly the boiling point. Ice is a massive buffer that stabilizes temperatures, and once it is gone temps can rise extremely fast.

Lemme explain another way. Get some ice and throw it in a pot on the stove. Turn on the heat. The ice starts melting, but the temperature does not go up until the ice has completely melted... let’s say 10 minutes. For ten minutes, the heat from the burner isn’t making everything hotter. The ice/water Mixture remains at 32° until the ice melts. Now continue heating for another 10 minutes and that water will be nearly 200°.

Do you get it?

Glaciers that have existed for tens of thousands of years are nearly gone. Sea levels are rising a half a foot per decade. This is serious shit and you are fixated on a politician. Grow the fuck up.

Tax the poor and working class 45% income tax, 20% sales tax, toll roads, fuel highest in the world at $5.87/gallon.
Exempt the rich.
Let 2nd and 3rd world contine to pollute to bring their consumption levels up to 1st world levels so you can tax the whole world.
Mass immigrate people to the 1st world where they emit thousands of tons of carbon each hear through cars and public transit.
France’s un global migration pact’s goals are in direct oppossition to lowering importing millions from africa. LOL
Give immigrants as much income as people working full time.
Watch that bitch burn.

The best part is macron did everything be said he would if you were paying attention.
Lets see if they bring the guillotine out and chop macrons banker head off on saturday.

Welp, now you do know.  You're welcome.

A hundred year's worth of partially sketchy data doesn't mean anything to a planet that's been here for billions of years. Earth's climate is extremely unstable. Even if it has warmed a degree in the last hundred years, which many dispute, then it doesn't necessarily mean anything, much less that we're doing it.

Oh ya, because you say so?  Tell us about your qualifications so we can assess whether your statement has any merit.

Climate scientists disagree with you.  They say natural change happens MUCH more slowly, unless there is some kind of trigger event, which always seems to lead to significant harm to life on earth.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist (or a climate one) to see what is about to happen to earth’s temperture.

Okay, so what was the trigger event for the little ice age? Too many blacksmiths?

How would that cause an ice age?

It was triggered by volcanic eruptions.

It’s also possible it was caused by the reforestation of North America after the native population was wiped out by European diseases

That is nothing but a shot in the dark hypothesis, and here you are stating it as fact.

There's like three or four times more volcanic activity today than there was back then.

If greening cools the planet, then increased CO2 levels should be having the opposite effect of global warming.

The one and only thing that can be proven to be a direct result of manmade carbon emissions is worldwide greening. Yet somehow the alarmists are trying to find reasons why that's a bad thing.

All I'm saying is I reserve my right to be skeptical. I might be older than most people here, but I've heard so many dire warnings over the years that haven't come true. First it was the polar bears. There are more polar bears than ever before. Then it was the icecaps being gone by 2007. They're bigger than ever. Now they're saying we won't have any chocolate by 2050.

That's not even mentioning climategate or the pause on global warming. Or the fact that the guy who came up with global warming in the first place said it was complete bullshit, after which he was viciously attacked by people like Al Gore who have made hundreds of millions of dollars on climate change.

Like I said, when people like Al Gore move to tiny houses and start driving priuses then I will worry. Until then, I will keep an open mind but my wallet is closed.

Yeah pretty much every sentence in that post is not grounded in reality.

I think he believes that higher CO2 levels means plants grow faster. Some likely do, but that is only if CO2 is the limiting factor in a plants ability to grow. He ignores the fact that water is usually the limiting factor. I think anyone with a lawn and garden or a farm knows that rain determines how fast their grass or crops grow. Extra CO2 is useless. Are plants growing twice as fast as they did 150 years ago? No.

Sunlight is another limiting factor. So are phosphate and nitrogen nutrients. A plant can only utilize extra CO2 if there are increases in those factors unless lower CO2 was limiting its potential. Not that this matters to the topic anyways.

Past predictions have been totally false. Those are failed predictions.

After being lied to so many times, it makes sense to be skeptical.

No those are made up predictions because nobody made them.

What’s incredible about these claims is that the predictions have actually been wrong. Things are worse than scientists predicted. The sea levels are rising faster than expected. The warming in the past 5 years has been very extreme. Glaciers keep melting. The artic sea ice extent minimums continue trending down. Antarctic land ice thickness continues to decrease.

In the US, there are nearly twice as many record high temperatures as lows. If the climate and temps were stable, then you would expect the ratio to be around 1:1

How much fucking denial are you in?

I mean Jesus Christ. Do you think the extra heat captured by th extra CO2 just magically goes away. Heating is not a potential risk of more CO2. It is a fundamental property of CO2. Every extra molecule blocks a known quantity of infrared radiation (heat energy) from escaping and that heat MUST get added to the system (earth).
