Are blue contams a thing? Second flush of B+ strain, small fruits

Hey guys, first time grower here and I’ve been getting amazing feedback from all my noob questions. I’m on my second flush and I’ve gotte about 6 grams dried so far, but I’m noticing my second flush having overall smaller fruits than the first. Looking at my cakes I’m seeing a lot of blue but I can’t tell if this texture is normal. I do mist directly and I know that can cause bruising on the cakes, but could ya’ll take a closer look and tell me what you think? Many thanks in advance!

Looks like bruising..Did you dunk your cake for 12 hours or so between the 1st and second flush? Try misting upwards so the mist rains down on the cake rather than jetting it direct also

So update... I'm really worried at this point. On one cake the pins are growing with very thin stems and malformed caps, and the caps are opening up way too early. On the other cake the pins stopped their growth and I think the caps are getting darker each day. If its not a contamination, the only thing I can think of is that my perlite is too dry and I'm not getting enough FAE and the cakes are suffocating. I re-wet my perlite in the shower and i picked off everything on all the cakes. I guess I'll see if i can salvage this.

They are NOT going to suffocate in a SGFC. Did you redunk them after the first flush or just mist them? You can only add so much H2O via misting and probably didn't get a good rehydration. I think you are over thinking and worrying. Post new pic of these little ones opening the caps.

Looks like the sub is dry and bruising as a result. One way to test if for contams is to take an alcohol dipped cotton swab and swab the area. If cotton comes out clean, it's just bruising, if not, then its mold.

Just keep misting, but don't soak your cakes. Remember, you want tiny little beads, not pools. Let the pins do their thing. I wouldn't worry about malformed caps, especially if you used an MS syringe. It's just weirdo genetics, everybody gets them. Keep in mind, mushroom DNA is millions of years old, they'll do what they want.
