We pick the interesting mushrooms, but the mushrooms sure pick some interesting people, and I mean this in a very good way, compared to the general population of other big sites like Facebook.

The mushrooms picked me...

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

The mushrooms are making me grow them. Ha.

Aren't they?

You're sharing your meal (the grain) and the fertilizer you can find (hpoo) that could grow your meal, to grow these mushrooms in exchange for the precious food for your mind they provide.

When we will colonize Mars, do you think an astronaut will smuggle in Poison Ivy seeds and Vomit Nut Tree seeds, or pot seeds and sporeprints to grow marijuana and woodlovers in the Martian soil?
Is therefore containing psilocin not a superior survival strategy to containing a poison or violent skin irritant?

Did we domesticate the Cat or did the Cat domesticate us?

The mushrooms literally picked me. In a trip they asked me if I wanted to give back to them, to their movement and Cause. I said yes. They told me to buy a computer and go to the website in the back of a booklet and stick with it. I boulght the computer, learned to work with it, got online for the first time and fist site I visited was this quaint little shroom site, Shroomery.org it was called.
18 years later, I'm one of the admins and while I was part of it we all witnessed it grow thanks to all our efforts combined into the world's premier information source on mushrooms at the forefront of the worldwide shroom Movement :noyoudidawet:

Well said, Asante.  I believe the mushrooms chose me last year.  Thank god for that; it is one of the most important and valuable parts of my life.

It's a bizarre relationship, no?
We consume them to make contact with the wholely other and it seems to communicate in very strange and powerful ways.

Are we akin to something like that zombie mushroom ant?

The mushroom wants to spread it's precious seeds around the world and it uses all life, for all life uses mycelium as a Lego center.

I don't like that analogy. The psilocybin mushroom may use us to perpetuate its genetic line, but it's a mutually beneficial relationship, a symbiosis.

It was with us since the dawn of the human race, and will probably be with us until the end. And it's part of what makes us human. I kinda believe the theory that we became tool users because of the mushroom. That we have language, culture, magick and science because of the mushroom.

Just realised these are likely cultivated. Hence the thread. :stoned:

Also this thread reminds me of a book and documentary called, The Botany of Desire. It's quite interesting.

I only made the connection to Michael Pollan now. Had read the book and viewed the documentary many years ago, forgot the author.

Makes sense now. His style is definitely engaging and insightful.

He has a new book out about the psychedelic experience and entheogens. I haven't looked at it yet.
