Cleaning mushrooms.
    #1417012 - 03/29/03 03:34 PM (20 years, 10 months ago)

Wasn't sure where to post this, but people seem less generally edgy in this forum than in Mushroom Cult.

Mushrooms picked off a casing often have chunks of vermiculite stuck to them.
(or whatever the casing material happens to be)
While it's obviously impossible to get rid of every trace off, what's a reliable way to clean mushrooms enough without risking losing significant shroom material?

Thanks!

No becasue psilocine is water soluable and you will lose some of the high.

Ilet mine3 dry first and then remove the dirt with my fingers. That way i do not cause oxidation by over handling and/or abusing the flesh of the shrooms.

Would light scraping with a knife or something (kinda like how you are supposed to clean regular mushrooms) work?  Specifically if one wants to deal with fresh fungi?

somewhat off topic, porque is your site not working? :frown:

Go buy a tooth brush with one of those round blue brushes on the very tip of the brush(the thing that bends). I dry mine and brush it off. Little peices of shroom will come off with the flecks but its not enough to worry about. I usually cut the tips off of mine and save them in a little blue jar. When I have enough I make choclates.
