Thank you to all those that didn't follow Zaid's advice to not vote...
    #25597361 -

It would seem that counterbalance has been restored (at the level of the house).

Now DT will make a run on executive orders and then Mueller will play the 'gotcha game' in under 2 weeks.

I see old DT getting Nixon'd if the stars align.

What say you?

Likewise.
Wrong.

It is hard to resist responding when someone uses your username in a thread title.

I am sorry I easily confuse political language with political language.

Why do you talk about it if youre not willing to engage/vote.

You seem to have little to add other than It's all fucked, you're all sheep, I am a wolf.

You're talking too (mostly) adults here, do you really think these type of thought processes haven't occurred to us already.

Are you waiting for an influx of PM's filled with thanks and appreciation.

Most here, wherever they have landed have jumped off from exactly those banal oft repeated and simplistic notions to try and find answers.

Hopefully one day after your glow of your epiphany starts to wane you can come and engage with the rest of us.

Just because I disagree with voting, doesn't mean I don't care about politics.

I talk about them because I get the impression that everyone has thought about it and no one has a satisfactory answer they are willing to risk trying. It also never ceases to absolutely shock me that the vast majority of 'adult responses' to these notions can be boiled down to fear.

Not voting is like ordering a family sized bucket of chicken wings, tipping the delivery boy and then tossing the tub in the trash, wings and all.

These elections, you paid for that shit show and you will pay for the outcome for the next year.

If you want to defile the ballot with scat pornography drawings and expletives that would make the exorcist girl blush, fine, but just not showing up is retarded. It is the activism of not showing up at a protest.

NJ voters kicked out 3 Republican house representatives,
and I helped. Used to be 5 rep out of 12 now it's 2 of 12.
We kept our Democratic senator too.

There also were 100 women elected to congress, including 2 Muslims,
and one gay man was also elected.

Voting counts (and feels good too).

Taxes (especially federal income tax) is nation wide extortion paid almost exclusively under duress. I believe it would be very hard to find anyone who would not jump at the opportunity to not pay taxes, so your delivery boy analogy is off. I never ordered the fucking wings. I am vegan. If anything, it is more like getting mugged and then not bothering to file a police report because you realize you were mugged by the mafia and one of their boys is the chief of police.

Furthermore, for as long as I have lived (which admittedly is not long enough to be taking this as fact; it is merely my observations) elections, laws, etc. have overwhelming meant nothing positive in my own personal life. More and more money to pay to the extortionists or face prosecution, dear friends being locked up for victimless "crimes" the average citizen has known to be laughable for generations, the "patriot act". More and more control as far as we are willing to hand over and if we are not... 'crisis and leviathan'. (Another great book to read by Robert Higgs.)

Edit: Hell, even the legalization of gay marriage is a net negative as I see it. Sure it is great that we can have equal rights in domestic partnership but overall it is detrimental to the very concept of the family unit. Blah, blah, cultural marxism. Either way, when was the vote to legalize gay marriage? Oh, it was a supreme court decision? So the far-reaching, culture changing legislation is left to an appointed committee which no one really voted for? What an awesome democracy we have.

It's a fact of life Zaid. I know you don't get this because you're just a little pup. I'm happy to pay my taxes. I like what I get in return. I wish I didn't pay as much but I earn a lot.

The system is not ideal, but no human system is. Deal with it. Your fighting it with no means to an end is pitiful. And the Pinecone ninja said earlier; are you really so silly as to think we haven't been where you are?

Most of here grew up since.

The very concept that there is no means to that end is, in my opinion, pathetic in and of itself. Simply because it does not fit within the time-frame of your own lifespan does not mean that it is not an achievable goal. Federalism was not even instituted until after the civil war and the federal income tax was non-existent until shortly before the 1920s. This is a piss-ant amount of time for a specific function of government to be deemed "a fact of life".

Edit: I think it is worth noting that local taxes for things such as education, law enforcement, fire safety, etc. are a different matter and not something I really disagree with. If the government in question is localized and is seen to genuinely make a positive difference in the community it occupies, that would be legitimate and something I would want to participate in. But we have gone from the colonies of Great Britain to the colonies of Washington D.C.

Also your growing up prospect would be more respectable if it did not mean compromising personal values for security and comfort for yourself and family, or at least, that is the impression I get from anyone who tells me to 'grow up'. The argument, as I see it, boils down to this: 'Well that idealism is great and all but I do not want to be homeless.' Is that not a fear response?

Your ideals are analogical to punching a wall, as is talking to you.

When you've spent a decade living entirely off your own blood and sweat, come back here and tell me all this again.

imo, therein lies some of the problem with your declarative statements; you have a narrow viewpoint due to inexperience...just like i did at one time, just like JSB did, and so on.

that narrow viewpoint leads you to conclusions such as X is a fear response when someone else's reality is that it has zero to do with any type of fear.
