is this all bad advice?
    #25567519 -

http://www.mycomasters.com/
Im not intending on using the advice from this link.
BUT they make it seem as though you can just use h2o2 on EVERYTHING and never use a SAB or Flowhood..
so what i would like to know is whats the catch?
do you get less crop, is it just lazy, do things take longer, is it all a BS?
I know it works well for cobweb without "harming" the mycelium and thats really all its recommended for by users here i think. but why?

H2O2 has no purpose in mushroom cultivation. Follow the link in my sig.

I think that method is for wood pellet substrate.  Not applicable to cubes, but, there are wood loving psilocybin mushrooms...

I must admit i did not read enough to realise it was only wood and sawdust they were talking about.
I would really like an outdoor Psilocybe cyanescens patch next year..
So h202 is more applicable to wood variety of mushroom. for what reason?
Is it something to do with the wood protecting the mycelium more than other substrates?

Don't really know.  Id guess it has something to do with peroxide being more appropriate for wood than, say, grain.  Grain would just turn to goo wouldn't it?  Also, maybe whatever mushrooms he grows with this are more suited to it...

You're looking for the links in the thread so you can learn to do things right. All of them.

H2O2 has no place in mycology. Wood or not. No place. At all. Ever. None.

:doublefacepalm:

The only thing hydrogen peroxide can do is help the process that has already been started in a preheated substrate.. and it doesn't even do that well at all, it really is nearly never is successful.
Hydrogen peroxide is good at neutralizing the spores of some contaminates, but it doesn't do anything to molds or competitive fungus in any stage past a spore.. this is because both molds and mycelium use peroxides themselves, so it does not harm them.
If you must play with it, use it on a previously heat treated substrate, I imagine right after it has been heat treated, dilute it from 3 percent to 0.3 percent and soak the substrate in a bath of it for 8 hours.
Basically what the fine fellow above is trying to convey to you.. is that when it comes to things like that sticking to heat treatment for substrates and whatever else for disinfecting is best as a newcomer.
Anyway, unless you are using straw none of the other methods would be of any use to you anyway.

If you are interested in disinfection with hydrogen peroxide look up Rush Wayne, read up on it yourself.
It is really not worth a hoot compared to the methods typically outlined here.. its just not as effective by far.
Additionally welcome to the Shroomery but try not to be such a dickus to people trying to offer you good advice, that guy is a good dude.

I have been nothing but polite have i not?
anyway thanks for editing your reply and going through some of that with me.
I had no intention of using it other than for cobweb. it was my understanding already that its best to go without i just wanted to know why.
If seen from both sides it could be said he was being a "dickus" by assuming my education level.(dont get offended seriously)

I'm saying to learn the basics first because it's easy to look them up. The links in my signature all show you exactly what it takes without any extra bullshit. Questions are fine but I can almost guarantee you we've answered any question you can ask 1,000 times unless you at least get the basics.

Even very minor amounts of peroxide being residual in petris seems to have stalled mycs, complete deadzone.

I think peroxide can be used in the ways he probably says I didn't read too much into it at all, if one were to spend enough time forming methods.

The teks weren't made over night, ya know? They are the result of a whole mass of members doing a whole mass of experiments. If you think peroxide wasn't used in creating these teks, then think again. It would be huge if it killed all the bad shit but let myc grow just fine.. In fact, that would be fuckin killer, and we'd all be scoffing at people who don't use peroxide. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that, and everyone worth their salt, who has tried peroxide during cultivation seems to agree that it isn't worth buying peroxide for anything myco related.

Having mixed success with peroxide hard to say whats going on with the failed plates really a few variables to them.

Just tested some sporeplates on peroxide recycled plates that were then dipped in sterile water to rid of peroxide residue. This did increase contam rates a little due to the workplace the process is done in until i make the glovebox, should function like new plates.

Actually peroxide slows healing and harms healthy tissue on humans so they don't recommend using it in most cases it's just detrimental to use.

You can get away with doing stupid and harmful things. Your yields will suck but people have such egos they think that the little things they did explain their success. So peroxide gets touted by noobs who post places that are not critical of their work.
