Is this common? Untill this year I've never found them growing directly off wood like this. I think it makes for some awesome pictures. Anyone else got pics like these to share? I'd love to see.

Cute. I used to find them in a wooded area in Seattle growing on decaying fern fronds under ferns. Cool to find them in these natural niches, though they tend to be a lot less prolific.

They almost dont look like cyans but they do, just sun bleached.

I looked into that recently, there was a thread like that up until a couple of years ago, but they seem to have abandoned it. It's a shame, I used to love that thread. :frown: It was on the Mushroom Grow Logs and Photos subforum, if I remember correctly, but I always thought it belonged here on the mushroom hunting subforum, as this is where most of the cool pics are at. Maybe one of the mods could resurrect it here? I think it would be a cool idea.

You can start another one,  just name it picture of the month 2018/2019

It's not super common but it's not rare. They'll grow on anything they can eat.

I don't know where my cyans pics are but here are some azures doing it.

I have a bunch of pics of natural habitat cyanescens growing from logs and sticks. I'll find them and post them later. Also, all of them are from the oregon coast. My signature will have to do for now
