Im looking at pins on that pic.

Looks like it's time for a misting too.

Good job.

Mist the cake directly? and Im not talking about the two mushrooms there, I was talking about signs of others popping up besides those two? and are the two supposed to be growing that slow? it is now the 3rd day its been in the fruiting chamber and it doesnt look like theyve been getting bigger

I'm new here and to the hobbies.  It took about 3-5 days for me and they will double in size every day after.  I'm no expert like alot of these other guys that have been doing this for years but looks a little on the dry side of what I had going on!  And YES mist the cakes directly.  Mine did great. I also didnt fan because it seem to dry them (the cakes)out but I also made my sgfc 1/4 inch holes 2 inches apart on ALL 6 sides and sat my sgfc on 4 Mason jars to keep it off the floor and so air could get to the holes on the bottom.

I think that may have been my problem as I have not been misting the cakes directly

Mist 'em until they are wet, then, after they've soaked it up and been given some time to evaporate some, do it again, and again

So I assume that is why I have not seen any progress or any more pins because I have not been misting the cake directly? I have been just misting the sides of the sgfc because I thought misting the cakes caused pins to abort.

Could be.

Ive heard people say that too.  Mist the sides, not the cakes..maybe it works for those people...

I mist the cakes directly, often.  I mist flushing mushrooms too.  They are mostly water after all.

Evaporation from the surface is your main pinning trigger, though don't over-saturate the cakes, and be sure to allow evaporation to occur between mistings

When I did cakes I'd always mist upwards above them so it them fell down like morning mist and settled on them nicely..If you spray them direct you can get bruising...You want the very fine setting...They should glisten just after and then dry again before yo are tempted to mist any further, like once a day

I misted from above and away from the tub: same effect... not full on directly blasting them with a super soaker lol
You're only adding surface moisture, as the cake has plenty of water internally for fruiting a flush... dunk after harvest for subsequent flushes

Are there other pins developing on my cake besides those two that are clearly visible? and why are those two pins growing so slowly, it is now going on day four in the fruiting chamber tomorrow and they are still almost as small as the day before. Is this because I was not misting the cake directly?

No it is in out in the open in my room and I have given it plenty of air, I have even given the room fresh air a couple times a day everyday.

Hmmm... might simply be dry   I despise cakes: bulk is much easier and less stressful than cakes IMO... which tend to be finicky and over responsive to changes in conditions IME

Might behoove you to place them in shallow dishes of water for a drink?
