Anyone used these SFDs with an adhesive backing?
    #25535183 -

I was just looking through ebay and I happened to come across this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Synthetic-Micropore-Air-Filter-Disc-Patch-Autoclavable-0-1-Micron-3M-Adhesive-/323453243627?nav=SEARCH

Anyone tried them? It says in the description it's got a 0.1 micron pore size and that it's autoclavable. How reusable would these be?

I may order a couple and try them out unless someone here says they suck.

I'm gonna hang around for an answer...curious too. Those seem pretty promising.

Not be be nagative but on the item description on the site doesn't say 0.1 micron and when I g9 to click the "read more" about the product nothing happens. I do get that it says 0.1micron in the title but I assume that it legally needs to be described in the official 'item specifications' tab on the bottom of page but Idk  anyone else can click the "read more" link?

It goes on to describe it further when I click read more.

"Color: White
Material: ePTFE
Solids Filtration: 0.1 Microns
Outer Diameter: 19MM
Inner Diameter: 10MM
Working Temperature: -40C To 125C
Air Flow Rating: 850ML-950ML/min (7Kpa = 1Psi)
Physical Properties: Dustproof, Waterproof, Oleophobic

This synthetic filter disc is rated for the resistance of bacterial and mold spores and can withstand autoclave temperatures in excess of 250F at 15psi. It is designed to allow for gas exchange while preventing the contamination of mold, plant, animal or bacterial cultures in laboratory settings. The strong 3M adhesive backing allows for a perfect seal on any smooth hard surface. Suitable for use in mycology, micropropagation, liquid culture, plant and animal tissue culture etc.

Wear gloves while handling or applying these filter discs to prevent degrading the 3M adhesive backing with the dust and oil from your hands."

Thanks for copy paste Psi! Can someone explain to me how big these patches are? One costs 8 dollars?

The description says inner/outer diameter 10/19mm.. that's like smaller than the smallest coins we have here. They want 8 dollars for 1cm of this filter? I'm sure I've misunderstood, so my question is how many of these 8 dollar items do I need to make 30 lids?

Its 16 for $8, 32 for $15.20 etc...click the units drop down at the top...

The overall size is 19mm, about 3/4 inch. They are decent size. The inner diameter 10mm or roughly 3/8" is the part without sticky, that would be your hole size or smaller.

I have a feeling that the adhesive will give out after about 5 cycles or less, worth a try though! If that's the case, not sure if it would be anything but prettier than your typically home made filters if you have to silicone it on.

wonder what the tape is made out of... usually adhesives(like mp backing) melt inside the pc and gets sticky residue over eeeeevvverything.

:awedisgust:

but it would be cool to use sfds without fancy lid modifications.

But it says that it can be sterilised at 125C so it shouldn't be made out of stuff that will melt right? Fuck it I'm getting 2 packs to test out.

Yeah was thinking the adhesive may be the deal breaker, let us know if they survive a few cycles!
