Looks really dark in color compared to the Cinctulus im used to picking but it might just be a dark colored Cinctulus?
Interesting?

yeah im not really sure, i been pulling these out of grass so maybe thats why they look strange if they are cinctulus
i expect the prints to come out black like the rest of them have

i really have no idea anymore, when i first was finding them i was sure they were cincts but now im not too sure.

id really like to know what they are tho and if they are active

Yeah i have no doubt they probably have jet black prints and are probably active but like you say it could just be a dark variant of Cinctulus or possibly Olivaceus?

nah i have not eaten any yet, only have in total 8 mushrooms collected.

hopefully someone with more in depth knowledge can lend their expertise

i was sure they were cincts but they just look so weird to me now and i do think they match up more to olivaceus but idk

Thats what i initially thought was Olivaceus but its probably just a dark colored Cinctulus? Have you been finding normal colored regular looking cinctulus where you found these? I would guess they are probably active even if they aren't cincs.

Only way to tell olivs from cinctulus, is with microscope work.

all prints have come out jet black, i have not found any normal looking cinctulus at this spot.

there were what i thought to be foes at the spot that i left there, super brown gills compared to these

im guessing olivaceus is probably the most likely i only have a total of 9 specimens

i just been grabbing any pan looking mushroom in grass and if the gills are dark enough and it doesnt completely fall apart during transport gets printed and they have all come out jet black so far lol

i mean are there pans in the grass with jet black prints that arent active?

also these were found in seattle area

My money would be on Panaeolus olivaceus, but I'm pretty sure they need microscopy for a positive ID.
