Why can't antidrug sites give the whole truth * 1
    #25507683 -

https://www.campusdrugprevention.gov/drugs/psilocybin The information on this site is so vague. For example: Apparently any shrooms that have "slender stems topped by caps with dark gills on the underside" contain Psilocybin?? Imagine having to read this as a college student and then getting the idea to go look for some to get high, only to pick some actually bad shrooms and get sick or hurt.
:badshroom:
The page looks like some highschoolers health class project, yet somehow the DEA, a Federal Agency that has a 2 BILLION+ dollar budget ($2,000,000,000+), is in charge of it...

Sorry for the rant, I just needed to get this off my chest. I know antidrug sites are suppose to scare us away from droogs, but not saying the whole truth just seems like a bad idea. At least sites like Erowid are growing . Anyways off to bed yall, :peace:.

It wouldn’t be an anti drug campaign if they told the truth or researched the topic or didn’t make shit up or didn’t waste tax payers dollars or the list keeps going on and on.

Pro-drug sites often don't tell the whole truth either, there is a tendency to exaggerate the benefits and downplay the risks. It only makes sense anti-drug sites would do the opposite. Of course some of them are poorly researched and contain misinformation but ironically I think that undermines their credibility and makes them less effective at reducing drug use.

You could easily make an anti drug campaign and tell the truth. There are plenty of valid reasons not to use drugs. Many drugs carry significant risks. Many people have had their lives destroyed by drugs or died from them.

The problem is the current anti drug campaigners don't want to admit that drugs can have benefits. They want to only focus on the negative side. That's a problem in my opinion, it ruins their credibility.

If I were in charge of those campaigns I'd just tell the truth about all the real reasons not to use drugs and I'd bet I'd be just as effective, if not more. The path of drugs really isn't a good road for young people to go down. Sure, most people will be ok smoking a little weed or trying mushrooms a couple of times but the more drugs you do as a young person the more peril you put yourself in and they are really not necessary or conductive toward living a happy life nor are they what young people should be focusing on.

With the exception of a few hard drugs. Heroin, meth etc the main problems that arise from responsible drug use are the laws involving drug possession or use. Why should someone be prevented from obtaining any gainful employement ( not burgerking) because they have a possession of psilocybin charge that's 5 years old? If anti drug sites want to be honest and talk of the dangers of drugs they should just say getting a charge of drug possession will ruin your life financially unless you are self employed. But of course they wouldn't say that because people would then think hey we need to change those laws.so they kind of have to exaggerate things.
Wow an overdose could cause psychosis or death. Death from what psilocybin poisoning?

The problem with what you said here is the word responsible. Drugs are dangerous because there is a chance you won't use them as responsibly as you intend.  Many people start off using drugs "responsibly" but over time their use creeps up to harmful levels. Drugs also have a tendency to make you not realize the harm they are doing except in hindsight.
