San Pedro broke in half. what to do now?
    #25500314 -

Hello. It broke in half by mistake and I need to know what to do now.

as you can see the base is still rooted and every thing is fine.(I cut it diagonaly and sharpened the edges)
so my question about the base:
1.the remaining base is about 50 CM, should I leave it like this (I know it will grow branch and continue growing) or is it better for future growth to cut the base to about 20 CM only?

question about what fell off:

its 90 CM long.

2.can cactus this long root? I know usually people root only the top 25 CM but can 90CM long branch root? if so can I root it and plant it? I have nothing to do with all this and I dont want to just throw it away and waste it...

The base will be fine. You can leave it as is.

The 90cm piece that broke off (approx. 3ft) will root and grow just fine. I've rooted pieces that size before. In fact it is ideal to root larger pieces like this, in my opinion. If you want you could also cut it in half and get 2 new cacti out if it.

The most important thing is to let the cut ends callus over for 2 or three weeks before planting, or else rot may develop. Best luck!
