Quote:

* With gas prices at record heights, Kerry is on the spot because of his advocacy of a higher gas tax. Voters know that the president can't control oil prices, but they sure know he can raise or lower taxes.

While I'm no fan of taxes, people should be encouraged to drive less.

Quote:

* The recent economic-growth and job-creation data is pulling the rug out from under Kerry inch by inch. A few more months like March, and his entire campaign theme will be made moot.

So the Patriot Act, the Iraq War, the Drug War, the environment...these issues mean nothing?

Quote:

* More and more voters are becoming convinced that Kerry would raise their taxes. His promises to confine tax hikes to the rich are about as credible as an alcoholic's pledge only to drink at night. Once they start raising taxes, voters figure, they can't stop themselves.

They are only convinced of that because the Bush propaganda machine is feeding them that bullshit via Faux News and other conservative outlets.

Quote:

* It is evident that Kerry has no effective answer for Bush's charge that he would undermine homeland security. With the national focus shifting more and more to terrorism and away from the fading recession, Bush's lead becomes ever more daunting.

Bullshit.  There's a famous saying that goes: "Don't start none, won't be none."  By NOT getting involved in foreign affairs that are not our business, Kerry can improve Homeland Security.  It is absolute bullshit for the guy who ignored the terrorist threat up until 9/11 to be campaigning on his record on terrorism.

Quote:

* Kerry's own work habits are subject to question. His ski vacation and elective shoulder surgery put him on the sidelines when he most needed to defend himself against Bush's attacks.

There'll be plenty of time for him to answer Bush's attacks.

In summary:

It seems funny to me that somehow Bush is beating Kerry in the election polls but slumping at an all-time low in his approval ratings. Somehow both Bush and Kerry are doing pretty bad.

At this point it is difficult to say, but I think Bush will probobly win, albeit narrowly. Bush has plenty of problems as an incumbant, but as a challenger Kerry has even more. He is in a tough spot because his best ammunition on Bush is the war in Iraq which he first supported, and then voted against funding our troops there. He can't really criticize Bush for invading Iraq, nor for not doing enough to secure the peace because he himself voted against spending more money. Not only that but it must be tricky when American soldiers dying might actually be good for his campaign. Kerry also voted for the Patriot Act and proposes on improving Homeland Security by making America subserviant to the UN, a body that has nothing but contempt for the security of Americans. Also, when Kerry attacks Bush for not preventing 9/11 he is being purely speculative, offering no proof the he himself could have prevented it given the time and circumstance. He is in a bind.
The other points in Mr. Mushroom's article hold true as well. We will see. Right now, Howard Dean would probobly have been a better choice for the Democrats.

There was a poll taken.
If the election were held today, people would be very surprised.

Seeing as you have expressed your belief that Bush will win, can you answer a few questions?

How does Bush's Iraq quagmire fit into your calculations?

As the situation deteriorates, do you see this as a plus for Bush? In other words, as Iraqi insurgency against the invaders/occupiers increases, more American lives are lost, more money spent and the requests for more troops from generals go out, does that help Bush?

Will another attack on American soil help or hurt the Liar in Chief?

Do you own stock in Halliburton?

Do you own stock in Diebold?

Of course, you can always find the data to prove whatever "point" you're making at any given time. To whit:

http://www.pollingreport.com/wh04gen.htm

In a 3 way election (Bush, Kerry, Nader), Kerry wins 46% to 42% over Bush.
In a 2 way election, Kerry wins 50% to 43%.

This is as of April 8.

You were saying?

I'm probably going to vote for Kerry, unless it looks like the election is not going to be close in my state (which it looks like it is) but if it's not, then I'll probably vote for Nader.

Understandable, but for the love of all that's holy, make double-damn sure your state's not a swing state before you do!

One of them would have to be ahead by like 20 points before I would vote 3rd party.

Indeed, the polls show Kerry ahead of Bush. I'm very sure it'll be close here, and my vote's with Kerry.

I bet that when the war gets worse Bush ratings go up.
People are afraid to change the president when the country is in war crisis.
