Trash it... you can run an hour PC cycle, birth directly to file 13 (trash can) and wash the jar with antibacterial soap and warm water... better luck next time... IMO/E, bulk is much easier and less stressful than cakes...

PC for an hour at 15psi. Whole house reeks of off/rotten cottage cheese. Absolutely boked when the lid of the cooker was opened. A thick purple mold was stuck to the bottom of the tub.
Hopefully the PC killed the spores and it's just a smell, otherwise my house is filled with mold spores

Why didn't you just toss it lol...

Pressure cooking mold sounds absolutely ridiculous and like a enormous waste of time. If your home has a door you can dump it in the trash outside if you're that paranoid about being exposed to mold that is already ubiquitous in nature.

Yep, when people find moldy bread, cheese, old Tupperware of food. They toss it they don't try to kill it first. Same goes for mycology. Someone along the line thought up this idea to kill the mold before tossing it. If you think the mold is that bad toss the entire tub too lol.

Tub ended up in the bin too. Disintegrated during the PC process. Got through one alright, apparently 2 was its limit.
All part of the learning curve I guess, I'll not be doing that again :grin:

Think I know where it went wrong, I caught the syringe on the wall of the SAB. Just kind of thought since it was sterilised with F10 then rinsed with alcohol it'd be fine. Clearly not.
Another couple of jars I made up later and no signs of contam. Fingers crossed.

Alcohol first then fire. If you wipe with alcohol after flaming a needle you're moving from sterile to only sanitary. Alcohol itself can harbor contamination.

I was meaning just the tub walls, didn't flame the needle because it was in sterile packaging. Again , amateur mistake.

Yeah second run the needle was originally flushed with disinfectant, then the boiling water rinses. Flamed before and after filling before injection. No signs of issue so far with these ones. All part of the fun I guess, finding what works and what doesn't.

Really want to try the bioluminescent shrooms(purely for aesthetic as they are toxic), didn't fancy paying the high price for a first attempt!
