cakes can be dunked in a bleach sulution to kill contams on a cake.My ? is there a place that has a list of the water:bleach ratio used in these dunks or a chart that shows something like 1cup water add two teaspoons bleach so one can make up there own spray or other solutin (kinda like the multiplication tables some of us used to cheat in grade school)My concern with this bleack tek is over doing it killing not only the contams but the cake as well a list suck as this would be a huge help in avoiding such a mess not to mention bleach is messy so if its possible id like to stick to a spray bottle soulutin or a small jar not gallons of water mixed with bleach to slosh all over.

I only use bleach to clean and soak empty jars. I would think that any amount of bleach would kill the cakes

you sir would be wrong that is why the bleach is diluted with water if the bleach is used full strenth then yes u would be correct.There is a shitload of info out there about doing this also mixed opintion but if done correctly this can be VERY useful.

I would actually go with a 200:1 solution. I used this and my cakes are doing great, and its enough to kill any contam's

we found the 1:100 dilution to be a bit too strong, causing some deformities.
so the recommended dilution is 1 part household bleach per 200 parts water. that's roughly [close enough] 1.25 tablespoons per gallon.
it is safe for use on edible crops, will not harm the mycellia, nor does it inhibit growth.
we have hundreds of folks using it over at mycotopia, with dozens of success stories with photo proof in our archives, come check it out sometime.
btw, although bleach will kill living molds and all spores, bacteria and yeast, it can only kill what it can reach so don't expect miracles.
it's best use is as an additive to your misting and dunking water, as a preventative to keep contams from ever getting started.
once a mold colony or bacterial infection is massive then even bleach cannot save it in most cases.
but one thing i have found, when dealing with molds like trich.
after cutting it all out as best as possible, hit the surface with bleachwater to kill spores then fill the hole left by surgury with table salt.
the salt seems remarkably effective at preventing the mold from returning.
