Pinning Or Contam?

I started with 6, 1/2 pint jars using Pf Tek. 1 had too much moisture 2 look like they don't have enough moisture (stopped colonization). Of the other three, birthed one, other is close to full colonization and the other has about a 1/4 inch square to go but looks like it is pinning. Can this happen? Or is it contaminated? Or pins? Or did i do something stupid? Can't think of anything. Doesn't smell like contam. Very strong mushroom smell. Any info is appreciated.

how did your jars end up with varying amounts of moisture. didn't you just make one batch of brf mix and spoon it into different jars? yes, your jars can pin before birth. it's usually due to too much light reaching them during incubation.

I followed Pf Tek and mixed each jar seperate. Is early pinning bad? Shoud I birth? Or wait another 24, 48 Hrs. until colonization complete?

Early pinning isn't a serious problem. Your jars are close to being done so just put them back into DARK incubation and let them finish.
