Using antifungal spray to ward off contams.
    #1917767 - 09/15/03 11:54 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

I was wondering if the antifungal spray tolnaftate could be used to keep the green meanies away. Anyone who's used this stuff (spray liquid, not powder) knows that it forms a fog that'll stay in a room, or grow chamber, for a good while. General idea is comparable to Hippie's bleach tek: (Strong desirable mycelium + contam spores + weak contam mycelium) X mild toxin ---> Desirable mycelium has small setback, contams die. What y'all think?

Well, from what I see on http://health.yahoo.com/health/drugs/202572/overview, it looks like this is something that has to be applied daily to work, but that's against athlete's foot.

I would just worry that anything classified as fungicide would do irreparable mycellial damage, even if it didn't kill the culture completely.

Use sparingly, and let us know how it works out.
