PE rye grain to compost colonization slowdown
    #25468899 -

I had rye grains 100% colonized with PE and then mixed with compost about 9-12 days ago (yes, I know I should have written down the date). It's grown into the compost but I haven't noticed change in the last few days. It's been sealed in the bag (with filter) and not getting light although I did use light last night as I've read that's now okay for colonization.  I used a grow kit (no flaming) from a vendor whose instructions state to not open the bag until 100% colonized, which should have been 5-10 days after mixing the grain. I am guessing everyone will tell me to use a monotub, but I just didn't want to go through with that and thought there would be less chance at contam letting it colonize in the bag and fruit there as well. I now know that PE can be slow and have since inoculated some BRF jars with B+, as well as rye jars with ATL#7 for sclerotia which will be way easier than shrooms.

Forgive the pics. Hard to do without opening the bags. Thoughts? Ok to open the bag now? Should I move it to a tub?

hahaha thanks?  They look rough because it's been 10 days right? If it was 2 days after mixing you would say this is progressing well and will be solid white in another 5 days, no?

Better luck next time. Those are royally fucked. Get that shit outta your grow area ASAP.

Side note: You can always throw it outdoors into a shallow bed and cover and see what comes of it. That’s always an alternative option to continue going with something cleaner in the meantime.

I don't really have the outdoor option, so I guess it gets tossed.  Thanks for letting me know.

Did you end up tossing these or letting them grow further? Im in a similar situation with my bags stalling the last few days and looking like yours
