Re: Bush to give testimony with Cheney [Re: luvdemshrooms]

He has failed to live up to his responsability to testify at the 9/11 hearings.

He's not acting like a president, he's acting like a guilty party.

He can be subpoenaed.

Baby_Hitler said:
You can be forced to testify, but if you think your testimony may incriminate you, then you can plead the fifth.

Do you stand by this entire statement or not?

It would be more specific to say that he would not have to testify the parts of his testimony that might be self incriminating. He can still be questioned on the stand.

Are you saying that George W. Bush has in fact pleaded the fifth?

If you can plead the fifth, you can't be forced to testify. Yes or No?

He can't plead the fifth until he's been subpoenaed.

I'm not sure if anyone can plead the fifth under any circumstances whether the questions may or may not be self incriminating or not.

If he wishes to plead the fifth, then that's fine, but he should be subpoenaed anyway, if he's not man enough to take the stand of his own will.

Why do we have subpoenas then if noone can be forced to testify under any circumstances?

I wonder if Bush will sit in the lap of the Vice President as well.

Bush is Dick's meat puppet.

Bush pleading the fifth?

are you implying that Bush would incriminate himself if he was forced to testify?

It was a hypothetical discussion.

actually he can be forced to testify. Use the national guard to bashin the white houses' front door and drag dubya out at gunpoint to testify. How is this not force?

Any person can be forced to the stand but according to the 5th amendment a person has the right remain silent.

I personally believe the president had an idea of the attacks before they happened.

BUT that doesn't take away his 5th amendment right to remain silent. If he is called to the stand and refuses to answer all questions I support his personal rights. It's only when our rights are questioned that they become valued.

A persons innocence or guilt does not and should not effect their personal rights.
