Re: Bush to give testimony with Cheney [Re: silversoul7]

Ever hear of a thing called the 5th amendment?

Since you appear to be unfamiliar with it, I'll post it here for you.

Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

So, tell me now how someone can be forced to testify?

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. They can't, but they can be forced to be called to the stand. If Bush wants to plead the 5th, that's his prerogative, and at least I'd value the honesty, even if it's suspicious. From what I'm seeing so far, that's not what he's doing.

So if a cop wants to search you or your home with no warrant you?ll let him because you have nothing to hide?

That was a weak analogy LDS. I don?t even know where to begin telling you what?s wrong with it.

Answer me this LDS. In your opinion, why shouldn?t the President Of The United States give testimony about the greatest intelligence failure in US history?

Answer me this as well. Why would Bush resist testifying? What does he have to hide?

You're right, if the president wants to refuse to answer questions about what happened the morning 3000 Americans died, while he sat patiently in a classroom reading a book, he certainly does not have to answer anything. If the American people are dumb enough to accept that sort of reclusion without recourse, then let it be as well.

Apparently, the consitution is only sacred when the president wants to get out of being forthcoming. When it comes to imprisoning people indefinitely with no lawyer and no charge, well that's acceptable.

You can be forced to testify, but if you think your testimony may incriminate you, then you can plead the fifth.

Bush should be subpoenaed and then he can decide whether his testimony is self incriminating.

Why is it I suspect you feel the analogy is bad because you dislike the man. Constitutional rights are everything. He doesn't have to testify.

Answer me this first.... where did I say he shouldn't? I merely stated he doesn't have to.

Same reason I would. Because I don't have to.

Most likely.... nothing.

Really, so you can be forced to testify, but you can plead the 5th and not testify?

Care to explain how that works?

Or did you mean he can be forced to appear, but not to testify? Which coincidentally, is just what I said.

You obviously find it acceptable for Bush Co. not to have to testify about 9-11.

Bush Co. isn't even being accused of anything, but they still won't speak on what went down. If you were accused of rape and you didn't do it, would you plead the 5th? Would you resist or refuse testifying? Or would you say "Go ahead, ask my anything because i'm innocent as fuck."?

Don't you find it strange at all that Bush Co. has had to be dragged kicking and screaming to tell us what they knew and when they knew it?

I'd do as my lawyer suggested.

Strange? No. They are exercising their rights. I find nothing at all strange about that. Not as long as the left leaning media holds sway.

I think you're ok with Bush Co. not testifying because you don't want to know the truth.

It would BLOW YOUR MIND.  :whoa: :whoa: :whoa: :whoa:

I find it amazing that you think if he did testify, and he does have something to hide, that he would tell the truth.

Now that blows my mind.

So let's see.You say I'm OK with him not testifying because I don't want to know the truth.... implying that I'd know the truth if he testified, yet you don't think he'll tell the truth.

Perhaps you'd like some time to think through this a little more.

If Bush were questioned alone, he would slip up and lie badly because he isn't smart enough to be able to lie well.

So even though he lied, you'd get a glimpse of the truth. Also, i'm sure he'd be questioned about things that you can't lie about.

I'd like for him to start acting like a president.

Failing that, I think he should be subpoenaed. If he feels some of his testimony is self incriminating, then he can plead the fifth on those parts of the testimony.
