I'm pretty sure the chemical you'll make out of sassafras will be a whole lot worse for the human body.

MDMA? It's not that bad. Atleast it gets u high. Sass tea isn't gonna get u high and it's bad for u. So why make it?

Another look alike?

The leaves are too pointed is my conclusion. Need to be rounded like 3 fingers

That's an Ambrosia trifida most likely. Useful Native American medicinal herb but not Sassafras.

Lol. Check near a pond. I usually see sass growing around the edge of the pond. I mostly see them in the shade but they like sun too. I think a pond will be a better place to look than a river.

The essential oil from Sassafras root contain about 80% safrole.
Thats what gives it the rootbeer flavor.
However, Sassafras was banned by FDA for use in food and drinks because their test concluded Safrole was causing cancer or could maybe cause cancer.
So rootbeer is not flavored by Sassafras Albidum any more and an other alternatives for flavoring had to be used instead.

Safrole is the starting build compound for many chemical routes to extacy (MDMA).
Safrole in it self is not a good idea to consume as it might be cancerogenic as FDA says and im pretty sure it won´t get you high.
Very many people drank rootbeer when it was made with Sassafras Albidum so highly cancerogenic it can´t be.

It´s a lovely plant with a very nice aroma.

It was actually cheap cow manure. Black kow I think. And u gotta make sure to get enough of the roots. It's kinda like cloning a weed plant, keep the soil soaked till it takes. I watered it 4x the first day. The next day the leaves perked back up and I've only watered it twice since, over 2 weeks.

Obviously the rocks are just for looks.
